PS4 set up question-flat or on its side?

Hi everyone. I just picked up my PS4 6 days ago and am very impressed. My question is whether it makes a difference in the set up of the system to lay it flat or on its side. I can do either but currently have it laying flat.

What says the group? Flat? On its side? Does it matter?

I prefer flat, but I doubt it really matters.

Flat. I remember reading somewhere if it's standing up it somewhat hinders air flow.

If you're gonna have it standing up, I really recommend using a vertical stand. I tried having it standing without a vertical stand and it sounded like a hair dryer on full speed. Now I've got a vertical stand and the sound level is about the same as having it horizontal. So if you don't have a vertical stand I really recommend that you keep it horizontal.

I have mine standing up, to be honest I would rather it lay down but I don't have much choice because of where my TV is set up! But I have had no problems with it and it VERY rarely gets noisy, but in the end the choice really is up to you!

Thanks for the input. I think I'll leave it horizontal.

I stand mine vertical, without the stand, and I've only heard the fan kick on high once, same with my buddies who keeps his horizontal, and I only hear the disc drive only when I first start playing, the same with his. It's just as silent as when laying flat.

I have both my PS3 Slim and PS4 positioned vertically (with a stand). I have yet to experience issues with either.

Always flat. There is a reason the PS4 logo is horizontal on the console.

Flat for sure, but I bought some rubber "feet" from Lowe's to give the bottom a tad more clearance between my entertainment center and the bottom of the unit. Stays even cooler now.

Lots of traffic in front of the TV, also the TVs quite low, so to not obstruct the view - flat.

I need to do this for my PS4 too. I put feet on my PS3 slim after my phat died and It seems to work out quite well.

Vertical with stand. Mine is in a closed in space.in entertainment center so no worries of bumping or it falling.

Mine is standing upright with the official vertical stand. I have no choice, I would prefer to lay it flat, but space is a problem where I have all my electronics.

My system fan can get loud at times, but I'm not worried about it really. If it dies though, I'll be straight on the phone to Sony for a replacement.

Upside down for me! Shame the PS4 is constantly overheating, and the disc drive is grinding like crazy. Piece of $#@! PS4!

I use to have mine systems vertical, but since the PS4 came out I had purchased a new entertainment center which will no longer allow me to place it vertical, so mine is now flat...I prefer the vertical look though!

I always lay my consoles flat. I don't think the consoles were really built to be stood up this gen.
