    well since you brought it up, they did get caught with that fake psp fan site years ago. Not the same but you get the picture.


    SONY HAS been outed by bloggers who have discovered the maker of exploding batteries has been running a fake PSP fan site.Alliwantforxmasisapsp.com appeared to have been designed by two mates and featured downloadable PSP cards and t-shirt transfers. There was even a Youtube video with one of the mates' cousins rapping about the console.
    However all that disappeared when Sony fessed up that the site was a part of a marketing campaign designed to promote the PSP in the run-up to Christmas.

    If you plan to trade yours in, it will have to be either an Xbox 360 Elite or the more recent Xbox 360 Slim. Owners of the original Xbox 360 model are out of luck, though the Microsoft Store will accept any variation of PlayStation 3.
    They don't trust their own console Thank you gaming world. You can't find this entertainment anywhere else.

    I wouldn't call it desperate. It's a marketing tactic to get people to buy your products. Gamestop does the same thing to get you to buy newer consoles, Best Buy does the same, etc.

    You misunderstood my post. The wording "ditch your PS3" sounds desperate imo or perhaps lacking class (like you said) would be a better description. Nothing wrong with the tactic in fact I think its smart.

    i can see the quotation marks but i don't get how that changes anything. we were looking for evidence right? how is this any different from what we saw before? now, yes, it is a little odd that MS store is being tweeted to in there and they aren't responding...that's pretty much a confirmation that they don't want to deal with it right now. or maybe they are coming up with something.

    who knows. their silence does make you think that this must be true.

    i don't know, i guess i was looking for something concrete. either way, you're right, i don't get it, telling someone to ditch their console sounds...like marketing to me. marketing is mostly dirty tactics.

    Agreed. Sounds kind of juvenile but far from being any big deal. I could easily see some people jumping on this offer if the $500 price tag was the only thing keeping them from buying an xbone. Its a clever move.

    The difference is Kevin Butler is a Character created using time effort and energy and can be quite funny.
    This and their previous campaign with Machinma have little to no thought and are extremely cheap and it shows.

    In the mid to late 90s Sega and sony and Nintendo were doing the same, trading blows in ads one by sega I vaguely remember was something along the lines of

    "Stations are for trainspotters"

    But the following year Trainspotting released LMAO!

    Nintendo did one about CD being slow and carts are fast during the N64 days.
