Thats not entirely true. 4K porn already exists. I don't think Im allowed to link that here...

Still waiting for TV broadcasts to be 1080p @ 60Hz in the UK.
The HD stuff is 1080i @ 50Hz for some strange reason.

you guys don't have 1080p TVs? I thought HD was going to remove the 50/60Hz issue.

Both the porn and the mastered blurays are true 4K taken directly from the 4K master.

Yup. Thats exactly what its about.

Do cable providers even broadcast in 1080P? I haven't paid for cable television in years. I only pay for internet.

Last I heard Cable TV was broadcast at 720P/1080i due to bandwidth.

Of course we ave 1080p TV sets.
Most of our TV comes through the airwaves, satellite and aerials.

Just fond this describing the standards the BBC uses.

Bandwidth my ass. Cabling (coaxial) can more than easily handle even 4k resolution, much less 1080p. The issue is that the bandwidth is allotted to support the hundreds of channels which are continuously streamed to the box or television at all times. It's possible because the frequencies carrying the information are slightly different, allowing them all to travel the cable at once without interfering with each other.

It's not a fault of the servers sending the data or the cables carrying it. It's just companies being stupid and inefficient.

I've seen porn on /highresolution before. I could see details of things I honestly didn't want to see. Do we really need 4k resolution for porn?
