Buying a modem/router and new monitor. Suggestions?

    Modem
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Currently I can have people join servers I host without needing to port forward. Does this support that? It's really convenient, If not, port-forwarding will be fine. I'm sure it does. I just want to make sure,.

    Monitor
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I haven't had a new monitor in about 6-7 years; my current being at 1440x900. So pretty much anything would be an upgrade.

For the modem,I would get this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16825390001

Regarding your question, I believe that is handled by your router not your modem.

    As for the monitor:

    http://www.amazon.com/Dell-WHXV7-24-.../dp/B00EMB4KVI

This is a higher quality option for not much more.

Any particular reason why? Both of mine are cheaper, and not in (any substantial way) lesser.

Modem: Best to go with the newest model that supports the latest standards

Monitor: The asus uses a low quality TN panel, while the Dell uses a higher quality ips panel. Better color accuracy, viewing angles, contrast and black levels. Better quality and more flexible stand.

Thanks. I'll take your suggestion on the modem, but I think the monitor in the OP is good enough. My cousin has a similar one and I remember liking the image quality, and this is 50$ cheaper too.

I'd advise you to walk into best buy and take a look for yourself. Considering how long you may keep the monitor, what is an extra ~$50.

*shrug* That would probably be wise, actually. I'll order the modem and go check out the monitors myself tomorrow.
