Does your phone have an sd card? I have my phone set to save all my pictures to my sd card in case something happens to my phone.

...only if you have google photos up and running i think.

Why don't you just hookup your phone to your pc and search for everything thats .jpg?
I hope your phone let's you see all the content as a "mass storage"?!

You could also install something like "es explorer" on your phone (it's free) so you can see and search all local files.

Get yourself a file explorer...check dcm folders I the explorer. Usually, when you take a photo, theres the normal pic you took then a smaller lesser detailed pic stored somewhere...check your internal storage.

Deleting stuff on computers and phones doesnt actually delete it, instead it just gets flagged as writeable space meaning you can recover things quite often.

Are you sure a phone restart wouldn't fix it? Maybe it was a read error or something from movement of the SD card.
Seems very odd for stuff to just delete.
