Uncharted on PS4 To Have Gameplay Fidelity Comparable To The Last of Us Cutscenes

    source

Impressed with The Order: 1886 and how it shows off the PS4′s power despite being so early in development? Then you’ll be getting a kick out of Naughty Dog’s next Uncharted when it arrives.
Industry insider Ahsan Rasheed, who goes by the handle “thuway” on NeoGAF, recently tweeted about how the “Next Uncharted will have fidelity in gameplay that is comparable to cutscenes in The Last Of Us.” It also seems that there’s “Something also about a boat.”

Vehicular sections in speedboats? We’ll have to wait for more information but considering the already impressive fidelity of The Last of Us’s cinematics, this is some truly startling news.
But that’s not all. Rasheed also tweeted about how “It’s safe to say the PS4 has approximately a 100 percent performance overhead over the Xbox One. 100 percent.”
Do you agree with the above? Given the number of games that are failing to reach 1080p resolution on the Xbox One – either due to eSRAM or something else – it’s certainly possible that the PS4 is much more powerful. But a 100 percent overhead? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

It wouldn't surprise me. I've said before that we should eventually see CGI-like visuals with the PS4. The days of being rewarded with a CGI cutscene between levels are no more when you can continuously play in one.

I really enjoyed 1&2 but 3 didn't do much for me. I hope they can improve on that.

Focus. Control. Conviction. Resolve. A true ace lacks none of these attributes. Nothing can deter you from the task at hand except your own fears. This is your sky.

I didn't need an insider to tell me this. I expected it after seeing the order.

CGI is also improving at the same time. If you remember, back in the PS1 days -- the cinematic videos we saw were pretty impressive but in-game graphics are better now (PS3/X360.)

True, but in-game assets are getting to the point that it's cheaper and easier to simply use them instead of rendering FMVs, mostly because of the smaller beneficial returned for the effort put in. They're looking 'good enough' to pass for it. It also helps with the player's experience where everything remains consistent.

The kicker would be that the cinematic in TLOU was done with ps4 assets

how is that possible? Naughty Dog must be slacking. TLoU used 8 PS3's. so 8x the processing power.

PS4 is ~10x as powerful! xD

Can't wait for first ingame screens though.

I would be disappointed if it's not a lot better.
Cutscenes were improved quite slightly to actual graphics. (Extra power was used mostly for AA and such.)

Naughty Dog is the only developer who took full advantage from the PS3 hardware and pushed all their games to the limit. Now, they have a better system to develop for and we can imagine how Uncharted 4 will look like or The last Of Us 2!? I can't wait to see Uncharted 4

If ND came to E3, with Pong, I'd buy it.

    Oh yeah, that's definitely true.
