The price tag on that HD will be waaaay to high. Thats the only downside though

    EDIT:
Regarding the 360 100Gb hard drive, not Sony's.

Price wise I estimate about 100 GBP

    $200 seems fair to me.

I'll buy this when it goes retail in Denmark.

The biggest 2"5 I have seen was 200GB if I'm not mistaken, and it was like $500 (Danish price)

Yup, upgrading the HDD on the PS3 is a lot easier. It are just normal SATA HDDs you can use in PCs as well.

2"5 it makes quite some difference, normal PC HDDS are 3"5 and those will not fit in the PS3 HDD port.

Wow good news if only the price stays down. I fill the 20GB well really 13GB drive quite easily.

nah $200 max, at least that's my limit for how much I'm willing to pay.

I already got the 20GB hdd and x2 64Mb memory cards.

Well looking real fast on the net there are plenty of ways to get a 2.5" HD

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...asp?CatId=1277

Im sure you can find better deals and with time even better than now, but about 150.00 for a 160 gig HD right now 2.5 So if Microsoft Sell a 100 gig HD over the cost of 99.00 it's a total FU to customers.

I still have 8 gigs left on my current HDD. I don't think I'll ever need more space.

Well, there's production costs. And those are higher at MS.

You have to realize that 2"5 hdd's have been around forever and is rediculesly cheap to manufacture, while tihs is not the case with the Xbox360 hdd.

A better option? Let us use our own hard drive like PS3 owners can. I can get a 200GB HDD for what they're likely to charge us for this thing.

    I won't pay more than $150.

Honestly, I can't justify $200 for 100GB when my PC can have 500GB for $200.

It was only a matter of time until this was announced. I personally have about 4Gb left on my HDD but have loads of demos and trailers (also some arcade games) so doubt I'll need it anytime soon but if MS unleash movie downloads to HDD, it will fill pretty quickly in 720p or 1080p.

Aslong as it's under 100, I'll buy one when necessary.

So, what's the PS3 got over the 360 now?

And you shouldn't pay more than $150. Hell, you shouldn't pay $100 for 20GB. At least here in Finland, 20GB HDD are 100 euroes. Freaking expensive and stupid.

whether using x360 or PS3 without some sort modchip, HD will have some security mechanism, and Sony or MS won't let you change your
HD by your self, it will increase piracy, reduce profit etc.

there wil bel locking and unlocking mechanism, method, and till this day
the security for HDD on X360 still intact, only DVD firmware is broken
so after there is method to bypass this security mechanism
we have to buy harddisk prepared by MS for X360.

same to Sony PS3 too, there will be secutrity mechanism
don't you think by enabling linux, you just somehow
can replace the HD, no way. sony will provide the HD.

the point is, 100 GB HD, is good news, because there is still
no modchip for x360 that bypass HD security. so ay drive
bigger than 20 GB is good news

same goes to PS3, sony will provide the drive, because there is profit
in there, and to reduce piracy ( do you think sony will encouraging you to
copy some games to PS3 HD, or change HD by yourself, no way).
1 Year - 2 Year, from PS3 launch day then we can talk, modchip for PS3, that bypass all security feature.

Its already been confirmed for PS3 that the hard drive is user changeable. You can go buy a HDD of your choice and upgrade it.

Hmm lets see...An internal (BD) HDdrive, that you dont have to pay a pricey Add-on,a full Os (linux),the choice to use any 2,5 HDD and not pay (again) the pricey Sony/MS add-ons,and of course a HDMI 1.3.For what 100$ more? That was a stupid comment mate...

HD DVD drive pricey? 129 including a movie and a remote (that retails at 20)...seems like a great deal to me AND it works with PC's. Maybe internal is slightly more aestheically pleasing, but that's it. Also, my HDTV doesn't have HDMI...

Anyway, both consoles are now beasts...
