Eh, she was just a writer. And honestly, the Uncharted 3 story was not all that great.

Maybe that is why they kicked her to the curb? I didn't think there was anything wrong with the story.

I hope she got a good severance package. They at least owe that to her. Other than that I am sure she will just chalk it up to experience. move on, and get another great job somewhere.

I wonder if she earns any royalties from the games' sales.

Almost certainly not. She perhaps received some incentivised bonus pay based on the game sales, but I would doubt very much if she gets royalties.

I'm sure she won't have any trouble finding a new role somewhere.

    This.

The bar was raised by Neil Druckmann (and Bruce Straley) and I'm guessing that the powers to be at ND were not impressed with what they saw so far with UC4. Just a guess.

Yeah, I don't think she will have any trouble finding a new role. I was thinking she would go back there to work on the Legacy of Kain series (or they might want her back now that she is available again.)

It's kind of funny to read about this because I've said before in another thread that, after playing through The Last of Us, Naughty Dog could do some great things story-wise with their other games. Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley (who both worked on Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us) surely proved themselves to work on Uncharted 4.

This is good news for me. Never seen an interesting spark in Uncharted story. The setups were cool thanks to amazing graphics. And Drakes personality, thats all.

Agreed. UC2 was the best in the series and TLOU was a masterpiece.

Is there a source? Not calling you a liar, but I would like to see something that says she created the entire Uncharted universe.

Usually there is a team that discusses these things. She is probably the one who decided on final decisions, but I want to know if she really created this on her own.

You don't need to have created the characters to be able to write a story about them.

Maybe Neil didn't create them (and maybe he had a part in it, we don't know), but he was there from the beginning as a writer/designer, and by all accounts it was HIS hand that made Uncharted 2 what it was.

When he split to take control of TLOU, Amy was given complete control of U3, she continued to be creative director, and she wrote the entire thing by herself whereas it was a collaborative effort in 1 and 2.

While Uncharted 3 was still a great game, it didn't touch 2 and felt like a step down. Meanwhile Neil leads the other team to create what many consider to be the game of the generation, The Last of Us.

If the brass at Naughty Dog didn't like the direction Amy was taking with Uncharted 4, then it's a fairly easy decision to let Neil take control of the situation.

But the biggest thing about this, is WE DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. We are taking one small article and making assumptions.

Great writer. I'm sure she'll find a new home shortly. It certainly doesn't make me fear for the next Uncharted title. Naughty Dog was great before her, and they'll continue on as such. Their creative process isn't limited to just one writer. How they interact and come up with ideas is exciting to watch. Wish most work places were like theirs.

I'm fairly certain (not saying this is 100%) that I saw this somewhere in a video interview of an old ND video during the early PS3 days that she created (or had a very heavy hand in them).

Of course unless I'm thinking of another prominent ND staff member...

Check out the Making of the games. Of course she didn't do it all alone, but she is the brainchild and foundation of a lot of it. It is an organic process though, with Nolan North projecting himself in and the artist rendition of their vision.

No doubt they're talented individuals, but you're undervaluing Amy. All of them had a big influence on 2. 3 also wasn't Amy's solo act. Apparently I remember reading that they built the story around the set pieces, but I might be wrong with that. Amy's talent is undeniable though, Legacy of Kain proves that as well.

E: I don't think Uncharted is in trouble as well, ND has a lot of talent. Her influence can't be undervalued though.

I get the feeling Amy will end up winning Oscars soon in the film industry.
She'll be more than fine. Good luck to her.

I don't buy the "forced out" bull$#@!, IGN trying to stir $#@! as usual. Also uncharted 3 was great, loved it. Not as spectacular as 2, due to the lack of crumbling buildings and helicopter shoot out level.

It says a lot that although 3 wasn't AS good as 2, it's still one of the best exclusives of the generation. There's no doubt that she was very talented and an important figure, but sometimes you just need to move on to improve, and that goes for both ND and Amy.

Seems like someone stirred the hornet nest good here. And a lot of people are making a lot of noise. I don't think this serves NDs employees any good. The two parties involved should air the detail around this case. From what I've heard, they have a really good working environment there.
