Did you like it or not? Infamous 1 and 2

Been a while since I did this series last. With PS4 launched I've been spending most of my time there. However recently I've had time away from my ps4 to devote to my ps3 backlog of games. Specifically spending time on the Infamous series to be ready for Second Son release.

I kept trying to get into this series and failing. Everytime I started Infamous 1 I'd come to the same spot and fail hard. Regardless of difficulty I found the enemies deadeye sniper accuracy to be utterly ridiculous. Got so frustrating that I even decided to test the legitimacy of the AI lol. I literally ran into a park loaded with trees, zig zagging between them all and bunny hopping...I was dead in seconds, mindblown. How could Suckerpunch put out a game with such impossible odds. I must have picked up and put down this game about 5 times. Always wanting to get into it. Always quitting for the same reasons. I had so many other games to play, that I didn't want to waste my time. All the while knowing deep down that the concept of the game and character were perfect for me. Thankfully when Infamous:SS was shown I released I finally had to man up and play the first two. I'm pleased to say I have played/beaten both finally, and am quite happy that I did.

I think I enjoyed Infamous1 more than Infamous2, but both had their own great qualities. Having played them back to back I was thoroughly impressed with the graphical enhancements. It was alot like playing Uncharted 1 and then 2 back to back for the first time. Very pleased with the updates made. I think Infamous2 had a few too many abilities to be honest. Felt rather overwhelming. Much preferred the upgradable shorter list of abilities in Infamous1. I also found that Infamous2's city felt alot more....dead. Infamous1 had people all over the place, whereas 2 seemed to have entire sections of the city completely lifeless.

I have to say one thing though. Suckerpunch does an amazing job at developing a superhero's powers and overall feeling of getting stronger. Unlocking abilities or upgrades on existing abilities along with expanding your energy pool all had great pacing. And in Infamous2, the animation they added when you 'level up' in your fame or infamy....loved it! Totally caught me off guard too! I was doing something mundane as healing a civilian on the ground and suddenly I'm thrown into this cut scene showing Cole rise off the ground and explode into lightning and energy. DAYAM! That was cool. I also found the number and variety of abilities in Infamous1 felt just right. And was really fun mixing them up to suit my needs in combat.

I did prefer the end boss battle of Infamous1 considerably more than 2. Fighting Kessler, watching him teleport around blindingly fast to avoid my basic shots....bad...ass!

But thats just my opinion. So my question to you all is....did you like it or not?

I never got around to picking up Infamous 2, but I absolutely loved the first. The most beat game for me on PS3 and the first game I got a Platinum in.

I thought the first one was OK, but I much preferred the sequel. I preferred the setting, the story, and the gameplay.

    Didn't particularly enjoy them.

I picked up the first for pretty cheap on eBay after it had been out for a while, because everyone was raving about it, but I didn't like it. I couldn't get into the whole character and I didn't buy into the whole fantasy/fiction thing. That sounds completely ridiculous, considering my interests, but it just didn't work for me.

I did the same with the second because it looked better on paper, but in the end I couldn't even force myself to finish it and then sold it.

^ It was the opposite for me. I typically don't care much for the genre, but I played the demo and was hooked. After multiple playthrough's I finally traded it in and then was so happy when Sony gave it away for free and have since completed it 3-4 more times.

I didn't think I would like it after seeing it in videos but got the first one for free after the PSN compromise. I was hooked after that and picked up Infamous 2. I liked Infamous 2 a bit more because it seemed to have a little more variety to it.

Really looking forward to Second Son!

I've only played the first, and that was relatively recently. It felt quite dated, if I'm honest. I didn't last too long on it because something new came out and I jumped on that quick. Can't remember what it was.

When it was first releasing I played the demo and wasn't impressed enough to buy it so I didn't.
Then the PSN got hacked and was offline for a good while and Sony offered it up free so naturally I downloaded it and began playing and started to enjoy it and got maybe 1/3 through the game I think and unfortunately my PS3 died and I have not played since.

Yes I absolutely did. Two of the best super hero games made. I would have been happy with just the two, so because of that I am holding my breath on second son. I am sure it will be great but that 1% doubt is in my mind.

I liked Infamous 1 more than 2. I didn't like the New Orleans setting.

I enjoyed them both. But not right away. It took a while for me to get into the first one, but after I've played it a bit I was hooked and couldn't put it down. At first I was experiencing the same thing as shepard (OP), that it felt almost impossible to get anywhere without getting killed. But after giving it a chance and forcing myself to keep trying I guess I got into the right way to play this game.

Both games were pretty good but I like the original inFAMOUS more because of Empire City's atmosphere and how the final battle with Kessler takes place in ground zero.

I didnt care that much for Infamous 1 but I loved Infamous 2 and the FOV expansion. And SS looks to be the best in the series by far.
