.... Nope, nope, was trying to make this be Respawn's bad coding but I just can't work that out in my mind..................Wait COD derived bunch right? maybe they don't know how to code outside of that ancient engine/made too many ridiculous add-ons for this game that simply don't resonate with that engine on that hardw...MS $#@!ed up That's all there is to it. I can't convince myself otherwise.

If it was Bethesda I could write this off as bad coding but nope.

From a technical point of view, Titanfall does not impress. It is based off of the aging source engine and it shows. This isn't a "Next Gen" game from that criteria.
Textures are abysmal, particle effects.. Aren't really there.. No advanced stuff really to be had here. It's old hat, all of it.

Something that really ticked me off was the fact they throw 35GB (you read that right) of uncompressed audio at your machine. For no real reason other than 'why not?'. The 'real' game itself clocks under 15GB.

On the other hand, it is fresh and it brings alot of new to the table while still going with contemporary shooter mechanics. It's very much like a fusion of Tribes + Unreal/Unreal Tournament/Quake + COD + Mechwarrior.

Still, it's lacking the ability to search for particular maps, small amount of game modes and a very small list of weapons to use (both in and out of the Titan). Additionally, it has no real single player mode to speak off- just a string of MP battles with a very loose narrative attached to it. Irritatingly, if you win certain battles if the story has slated for you to lose, well, you lose anyway.

I do extremely appreciate the fact that they fully support gamepad on the PC, including some auto aim to make sure you're competitive with kb+mouse people. I routinely dominate online.

From my limited, solo MP, play time I'd give this a 7/10 if I'm being charitable. With a group of friends I'm positive the enjoyment factor would shoot up.

Ouch, might be good idea to use folder compression on audio.. (well at least on PC)

Was thinking about getting it for the PC, but with the release, nope. Infinity Ward always had trouble with their online in the very early days of CoD1 and CoD2. Seems those devs that split off to become Respawn weren't the netcode guys. It really looks like the engine people didn't split off either, so Respawn went with Source as middleware and didn't really have the experience to customize it. There are Source mods all over and Source has physics and particles built-in, usually at blistering fast frame rates on a decent gaming PC. It really sounds like EA wants a Titanfall 2 and MS didn't buy the IP, so that one might be worth getting. With inFamous:SS only a few days off, TF is going to be rapidly forgotten.
