First off, I LOVE horror movies. When it comes to horror games, however, I'm a huge $#@!. I don't know if it's that horror games are interactive/immersive, but they mess with me in a way that horror movies can't seem to. I just watched the first part of the game on youtube, and it's freaky as $#@! and one part in particular hit me pretty hard as I'm a father of 2. I guess this just reinforces the fact that this game is universally adored by all for a reason. I just hope I can grow some balls so i don't miss out on this game.

I'm gonna miss out on The Last of Us because I'm a big $#@!
The Last of Us isn't horror. It has an excellent atmosphere that sometimes trudges down to the dark depths and maybe gets creepy, but it's not spooky monsters chasing you in dark halls.
The fact the game affected you though, as a father, means it's doing its job well. You really shouldn't miss out on a game that can do that.
I keep telling myself this. I actually got a little teary eyed watching that part. I'm gonna give it a shot but man...it's gonna be tough to actually play through this. A testament to ND for sure, and I can definitely see why it got GOTY.

The experience that is TLoU, made me feel as though I was Willard or something. At work, I felt different, I just wanted to go back to my PS3 and carry through with the mission. Kinda messed me up during that duration of play. Never has a 'game' (it's an experience, remember ) done that to me -and I've been playing since the days of the C64.
Honestly, I strongly encourage and recommend that you do play it. The protection you start to afford to Ellie is just, well it's just something else.
I played the game for 2 or 3 times when it was released. It was pure joy for me. And last week I watched a video that summarise the story, It made me remembered those awesome moments, and now I am planing to re-play it again soon. It is that much awesome.#lovegaming
Stop preordering games! Stop buying day1 games! Stop being idiots!
I'm a huge..what?? lol anyway TLoU isn't the typical survival horror game, you definitely need to spend time with the game, you'll enjoy it. Besides, you don't want to miss out on the ps3 being pushed to its maximum graphical limits. Imo, this is the best looking ps3 game (like GoW2 was the best looking game on ps2).
I feel the same if there was a zombie in real life I would have no problem taking a chainsaw to them but when it comes to video games I get a uncomfortable feeling but then again its justs videos for me I never got a game thats horror but im sure I could get into it I just never bothered.
It's weird because I used to play the RE games, though Code Veronica was the last one I played I think. I just couldn't play horror games anymore, though my horror movie watching habits have evolved and elevated over the years. They just don't scare me or affect me the way that games do. I really wanted to play RE4, but I literally played about 10 minutes of it and took it back to gamestop and swapped it for something else. Horror games $#@! with me bad. I really liked the idea of Outlast, but I never downloaded it on my PS4 because I knew it would be a waste of bandwidth to download a game I knew I wouldn't be able to play.
Do youself a HUGE favor and don't miss out on this game.
Side note - plan your playing time at night with headphones after the kids are put to bed and when you can dim the lights. Also, play it on Hard the first time. Normal mode is a bit too easy IMO.
I scare pretty easy, and there was really only one part in the game that had me kind of scared.
And yes, as Pong says, play it on Hard. I'll go a step further and say turn off the listening function.

This is why we can never get rid of our PS3's.
The Last Of US, Uncharted, and so many games, many of which might never make it to PSNow.
Even after/if PS1/2 Emulation comes to the PS4 (since PC's do it on 2GB ram easily, i don't see why not), the PS3 games will always be best on the hardware (PSNow not withstanding).
I CAN SEE PS3 Networked titles being 'better' on PSNow though since the game is IN the network at that point and your just streaming the game vid and controls.
THAT might be where PSNow becomes very strong: MMO Games.
There's no reason some games won't soon be PSNow only, run on the PS3 or PS4, brand new.
I can really see someone trying a MMOG that's stream only.
I have some A50s, so if I'm gonna use those at night I'm gonna buy some Depends.
