Gamespy closing down
Well that makes loads of games now redundant won't it probably money shortage reason why there shutting down
Its usually about money.
they have slowly been winding down things since 2012 I think, but now this is the final nail in the coffin.
I used the gamespy arcade client about 10 years ago as a server browser to search for Half life and Counter strike servers, but when Steam released in 2003 I had no real need for it since Steam has its own server browser.
I didn't know gamespy still existed.

good, trim that fat. we need newer talent and well the industry is changing anyway. no one needs gamespy when they have their own setup.
Here is a big list of games affected by this. only goes up to 2010 though. Also I got word that Arma series of games is affected by this.
Alot of devs/publishers are migrating their games to Steamworks on Steam.

gamespy May shutdown ?! can't believe it....
I had to have it installed years ago, too. But I could never remember passwords/usernames etc, so I've probably got about 5 accounts there. After having uninstalled it YEARS ago, I'd forgotten all about it. Last year I installed a game (can't remember which one) and it asked me to set up a gamespy account. I installed it, but promptly deleted it. I much prefer Steam's way of doing MP.
