    Buying a used Vita

    Hey guys
So I plan on buying a used vita off craigslist tomorrow.
Ad says refurbished. Is there anything I should look out for in terms of issues? What are some common issues with vitas? What's the best way to check all the buttons/functions? Is there any way to easily tell if it's stolen?

Or do you have any advice once I get one?
Thanks in advance. So stoked to finally get a vita

If you add my PSN say you're from PSU or I might delete it!

    Buying a used Vita

Good luck with the purchase! If looked after they're pretty robust. Had mine since launch and it's been faultless and still feels like new with regards to button presses and the analogue sticks. Only thing I can really suggest is load a game up and use each button to make sure they work and look around the edges for any scuffs as a witness mark for being dropped. Obviously scratches on the front screen are a bit of an eye sore too.

As for checking if it's stolen I don't really know. Either you or the owner sign in on it to make sure it hasn't been banned. The latest firmware is 3.12

    Good luck

You accidentally buy 3 PSVita's on the cheap and you are branded for life, lol.
Not sure why it would be refurbished, the ones I bought were all mint as in used a few times max.

Make sure you can log in online to ensure it's not PSN banned. Like previously said put in a game and test every button, put up the volume low-high, use the touch pad on the front and back if you want to be extra safe.

Another thing to consider is how much are you paying for it? Is it only $40-50 different than a new vita? Because if so you might as well wait and save up a little more, since there are a lot of bundles that include games and memory cards which are things you're going to buy anyways after. 8Gig Memory card is $20ish plus a new game(AAA) $30-40, that's another $50-60 you'll be spending on top of your used vita. For $199 you get the new vita, 8gig memory + Borderlands2. Just a bundle to consider there are plenty of more out there.

My first vita was 50 dollars and the people at the pawn shop told me that I would never get it to turn on. Grabbed my buddies charger, waited 20 minutes and it booted up. I guess it won't boot up if your using USB 2.0 or lower power connectors and whatnot. Kinda how your cell phone slowly charges with a shirt charger. A shifty charger won't even turn on a vita. Food for thought guys. And you can definitely tell the oled is broken on a vita if the screen is pitch black yet you still get clear audio when you turn it on.

Wow thanks for all the responses and tips, guys! I'll rep you all if I can.
I actually ended up getting two (by the time we met up he had sold one). They were "refurbished" but as far as I could tell they were brand freaking new. The touch screens still had that sticky feeling of new touch screens. I got them both for $200. I bought a memory card and games in advance and everything worked beautifully. I wanted to buy a new one just to support the platform since I know it's struggling, but I really couldn't pass this deal up.

My head exploded when I realized how many games I ALREADY have for vita. Especially since I imagine I'll be playing PSASBR and Pixeljunk Monsters a good majority of the time lol. I'm so happy I finally have a vita
