    The Amazing Spider-Man 2 may never release on Xbox One.

    All references to Xbox One version pulled from the game's official site
    Well now this is curious, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game appears to have been indefinitely delayed, perhaps even cancelled, for the Xbox One. The official site is still offering pre-orders for the Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, 3DS and PC versions, but artwork depicting the Xbox One box cover has been pulled, with no reason given for the sudden disappearance.

    The game was set to release on the Xbox One on 29th April in the US - the same day as all the other platforms. Reports are also coming in that players who pre-ordered the Xbox One version of the game are receiving emails letting them know their order has been cancelled.
    When pressed, Activision this morning released the following release schedule statement to MCV: "We want to inform you that we are revising our release plans for ASM2 on Xbox One. When and whether ASM2 is released on Xbox One is TBD."

    That's weird. What could have come up this late in development to delay it only on one console?

    Wouldn't be available on the 360 if that were the case. I also highly doubt this game even sells well.

    I would guess the delay has something to do with the $#@!ty Kinect features in the game. Maybe the features aren't working properly?

    I'd imagine they will want to impact sales of Xbox over PS4. Assuming it's the movie thing, of course.

    The first game only sold 240,000 copies on the PS3. And that was with a 60 million units sold console.

    Oh yes gaming gods. The amazing spider man 2 is on the xbox. I don't own any current gen consoles and I really want the new spiderman game. Let me dish out $100 more and buy the xbox one over the ps4 when I could be playing, most likely, the better version on the cheaper ps4.

    Seriously though, I think there's more of a chance of a game breaking bug than Sony blocking the release. Activision would be losing out on money they spent to have the xbox version developed.

    It's nothing to do with it being a Sony movie, (Spider Man 1, 2 and 3 were on PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, PS3, 360, Wii etc.), same with Ghostbusters, Amazing Spider Man and all other Sony movies. Sony Pictures and SCE don't work together like that, they should, but they don't.

    +There doesn't seem to be a Vita version either, I think Sony would throw money to Activision to get it on their own platform rather than to keep it off another.

    Sounds like something went deeply wrong with the Xbox One edition of the game, if it is the only platform in question. Then again that's the kind of thing you expect with movie tie in games, they generally don't get a lot of time to develop the game, and have pretty serious release date targets. It is an odd movie to pull a game though, usually these kinds of things are just shoveled out of the door no matter if they are finished or not.

    Yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with Sony Pictures. Like Aaron said, it isn't like the segmented parts of Sony work together to help each other out. This whole thing is just strange to me.

    Again though, Sony divisions have actually started talking and working together. But still doubt that would be the reason why, other wise would be sony consoles only not just the X1

    Doesn't really matter Spiderman games have been crap for a while now, and games like these don't sell that well so releasing them on most platforms as possible at least gives them decent earnings from the game so I agree it's most likely a porting/development issue.

    perhaps another reason (i've not checked to see if there are any other updates to the story) could be that they've realized that they are not going to get a big return or break even on the xbox version so they are looking to MS to put cash into it?

    There is probably a huge problem with getting it to run on the xbone split ram architecture. i guess this dev team is quite small and is taking them a long time.


    Or they think the xbone install base is too small to warrant the expense of completing development for it.

    It's probably not an issue of a low install base if they're also developing for the Wii U.
