^ It's not the auditory noise that's the problem; it's what it means (disc drive errors etc).

    November 2013 -------- 108.9gb
    December 2013 -------- 148gb
    January 2014 -------- 238.3gb
    February 2014 -------- 205.6gb

I know the first assumption..."Your PS4 online too much"....
The answer to that....NOPE. I've gone over my 150gb cap for 3 months now, and yesterday AT&T slapped with me a $10 add-on for 50 more gigs this month.
    BULL**** AT&T.

I HAVE TWO PHYSICAL DSL LINES....My PS4 is on the second DSL line...so it cannot be figured into this equation of usage. It's really pissing me off though...I'm fixing to have a fit with them people.
I pay $110+ month for internet...having two lines is a b*tch...and I should NOT have to pay for extra, ESPECIALLY when my 2nd DSL line never gets NEAR 50gb of use a month.
What's with all of that memory for? I have AT&T, run the internet on 6mb a second. It runs really fast and streaming is great too.

Nope, my PS4 is going strong. It sucks that so many people got a DoA console. Usually Sony is well known for their hardware expertise.

Has anybody's PS4 messed up yet? Mine did

No, not at all. Please read my post again.

Whatever, some people just don't want to understand. Meanwhile, Steam is taking over.

I read your post. What I said was some of those shouldn't be considered factors. But I also understand that digital only also has its advantages. It's just not fair to say that is the ONLY solution.

Are you serious? Not sure why you're so keen on conveying the "they just don't get it" attitude. You want people to switch from a supposedly flawed system of play to another system of play that is not only imperfect itself, but actually costs you more without offering any extra value?

Steam is taking over because, unlike PSN, they offer you a reason to. When I can buy 2 games and get 1 free on PSN for a discounted price or use coupons on PSN, that will be the day I consider digital only a viable option for consoles. Less dust in my cupboard and a rare error that's probably not caused by disc copies, is not.

    That's exactly it.

Do you think Steam has always been offering $5 dollar deals on triple A games? They can afford this now because people actually jumped on board and made the whole digital thing a viable option.

PSN could be so much more developed if console gamers finally accepted some change. But for some reason we are still holding on to this I-must-sell-my-games philosophy.

10 years ago Steam was expensive and only offered games in US Dollars $$, so often buying a game in the UK (or anywhere except USA) was more expensive on steam than buying from retail.
Also 10 years ago the same points of slow internet and caps were made, btu were more valid then because our net was even less than ti is today. September 2003 when Steam Launched I was using 56k, but by the time I bought HL2 I had super fast 512k (50KB/sec) broadband which is 120 times slower than my current speed.

Believe me, you're barking up the right tree on this one. I think digital could and should be a viable alternative to physical. But you're asking a large chunk of the gaming population to change their style of gaming for a promise that maybe Sony will give us an incentive once everyone is on board.

As for the "selling game philosophy", the quick fix is demos. Something the PS4 and, to an extent, the PS3 had been lacking. I, for one, am not interested in judging all my purchases completely by trailers and gameplay videos. Plus, I don't want to buy a game that's full priced, realize I hate it, but now I'm stuck with it. At least if I hate it with a physical copy, I can trade/sell and minimize my net loss by up to $10.

If Sony wants us to go digital only (as I'm sure they do), then give us a reason to do so. Sometimes you have to throw gamers a bone before asking them to roll over.

    UPDATE:

I thought it was strange but my PS4 arrived for repair in the evening and was sent out back to me at 10:00AM the next day. I'm guessing I'll get a different unit? It'd be nice if I got a brand spanking new one but most likely a refurbished unit. I don't mind as long all is working should be here Thursday so we'll see.
