Microsoft Claims that Cloud Computing Can Provide Power of 3 Xbox Ones, 32 Xbox 360s

    Quote Originally Posted by DualShockers

Considering the results of the Xbox 360 in Japan, Microsoft is facing an uphill battle to sell the console to local gamers, and isnít afraid to make bold claims to bolster its guns.

During the stage event the Microsoft Japan representative claimed that the Xbox One has roughly eight time the computational power of an Xbox 360, but thatís not all, as combining the the local machine with the cloud, the computational juice of roughly three Xbox ones units can be used.

After explaining with example how this can be beneficial in games, for instance for driving the AI, the rep continued by saying that combining the cloud and the local machine the computational power of 32 Xbox 360 console could be reached.

Itís relevant to mention that the rep talked about computing power, not graphical fidelity, but itís still a definitely bold and intriguing claim. Iím definitely interested in seeing if Redmondís software giant will manage to back it up in future applications.

As a funny note of color, part of the Japanese audience watching online on Nico Nico Doga found the statement pretty amusing, as you can see by the comments overlayed in the picture below. For those unfamiliar with Japanese internet lingo ďwĒ is their equivalent of our ďlol.Ē

Ah, they are back to this silly "Power of the Cloud" boasting. I wonder if we'll ever even notice an AI difference, or what have you

Just to clarify the misquote. I believe it is 3 times the CPU and Storage of Xbox One.

So at best that ix 0.1tflop x3 power, but you can't really use that power effectively what is the point?

background stuff and/or shorter loading times and etc.

    Won't change the graphics gap...

Man I should of gotten an xbox, I had no idea between the cloud and dx12 this thing would trump everything by a large margin.

I thought it was the X1 not the X3, we already have the X360. Confusing to say the least.

i'm told PS4 is not doing great numbers in Japan, so MS has no chance and while i'm sure the cloud could have helped the Xbox. i think the majority of that died when they had to remove the always online part of the box.

even then, the developers would have to go out of their way to do it for the X1...they aren't using the ESRAM to its potential, why would they bother with a completely different way to develop games?

Still waiting on the tech sheets that actually give any of this credence, Microsoft. Word statements mean very little.

Eh? They have actually demoed it.
I do believe it's possible given an ideal situation, I just don't think it's practical in the real world.

Controlled demos with any kind of unknown variables and control that we don't know of.

Where the actual data supporting the hype and promises? How much longer do we need to wait for the games to show off the Cloud?

6 months too long for you?
It is something new, I'm not expecting anything particularly innovative anytime soon, it will be a slow creep, and incremental, I certainly don't think it will ever reach its theoretical potential

All we've heard since Xbone launched is wait for this wizard **** wait for that wizard ****. Its hillarious. MS isnt going to get around the PS4 power advantage of having faster RAM and a more powerful GPU. Sony's reaping the benefits of their hardware choices and MS is reaping the consequences of theirs. No fairytail promises of pixel dust and wizard **** is going to change that.

Yep we got cloud giving us the power of 3 xbones, throw in some DX12 for another 2 xbones and your one Xbone is now as powerful as 5 Xbones. At 500 dollars thats only 100 dollars for each Xbone.
