    Child of Light

So, have you played Ubisoft's new RPG platformer Child of Light already? What do you think of it?

I think it takes some time to get the hang of it, but once you do, it's a great game. It looks great too, and the music is giving me an eargasm.

I've played the first 2 chapters on Steam already and I'm absolutely loving it. The poetry is so well done, the art style is very unique, but I have to admit that so far the battle system is a little weak. Other than the battle system though I love the way they've done the puzzles where you need to shine light to create shadows in the background to solve puzzles and even to blind enemies so you get the jump on them.

I'll certainly be playing this game to completion.

Isn't the battle system very similar to Final Fantasy? I don't normally play RPG's, but it thought I should give Child of Light a try

What I don't understand at the battle system of Child of Light though, is the 'interruption'. I understand you have to hit an enemy while he is in 'CAST' to interrupt him and make him move to 'WAIT' again, but where precisely will he start in WAIT ?
Sometimes, the enemy starts at the left of the bar, but other times he starts in the middle. Which component decides where in the WAIT he has to start again?

The combat is exactly the same as the original Grandia except that it's a static field rather than you moving around. The left portion of the bar that takes up the most room (in white) is the "wait" bar, depending on the agility of yourself or the monster you will start further up the bar if your agility is higher, same goes for them, also the speed at which the bar goes across also depends on agility.

The "Casting" part of the bar is in red, when you hit the line between white and red is when you take your action command, if you cast a spell then it takes time for you to move from the casting phase to the end of the bar. If a monster is halfway through the red bar or near the end, use the firefly to slow the monster down and use a normal attack, sometimes this can interrupt the monster from casting. It is only during the casting phase when both yourself or monsters can be interrupted, always go for an instant action for interruption if they're in this area.

It has a final fantasy feel to it - like, real final fantasy. Not the new ff games. The way they used to make you feel. Plus the art/graphics are mesmerizing. I'm loving this game!

It feels nothing like Final Fantasy, more like Valkyrie Profile mixed with Grandia.

Game is stunningly pretty, very stylized, almost like a watercolor painting come to life. Just collected the parts to the third character, the Golem from the included pre-order DLC pack.
