Is it really necessary to upgrade yet? I haven't filled it up yet and considering how fast you can download and install these days, it's not worth it for me yet.

I'm waiting until prices go down and we can get 1TB SSD.

    16 terabyte SSDs already exist.

1 terabyte drive should be under 100 in 3 years.

2005 I paid 200 for a 150GB Western digital Raptor. The following year I paid 150 for a second. I remember a clan mate at the time saying that SSD were the future, but back then they cost thousands not hundreds.
The prices are dropping quite fast, I bought a 120GB OCZ vertex 4 for a little over 120 less than a year ago.
The next SATA upgrade will need to be available soon because these SSD are getting damned close to saturating SATA 3 right now.

With a USB to SATA adapter. It's not a native solution so I'd expect there to be non-native problems. A waste of money on the form factor front imo.

As much as we want. Need is relative from person to person. I want petabyte storage already.

Do you have eyes and ears? OR did you simply not watch the video?

Inside these USB external drives lives a regular SATA hard drive, all you need to do is take the drive out and it will slot straight in to the PS4.
ITs not a waste of money because its cheaper than buying the hard drive on its own which costs about 140, but in this external drive configuration it only cost 90 due to the discounts.

All I saw in the video was an external drive connected to the inside of the PS4 via a USB to SATA adapter. I watched the video so unless my sight and hearing is completely gone, that is NOT a native solution. My bet, the physical dimensions of the drive itself (I'm speaking length-wise) makes it a non-starter.

You couldn't be any more wrong. ITs a standard 2.5 inch drive, the length and width are always the same, the height is the dimension that is not standard, which varies depending on capacity. Before now the 2TB drives were 12-15mm high sou wouldn't fit in a PS3 or PS4.

Watch "again" from 4:30 onwards and you see him remove the 2TB drive from the cage within the PS4 without any USB connectors.

    P.S
You just lost all your money.

Yeah. Took a second look and you're right on all counts. With regards to the dimension mix-up, I always end up getting things reversed or mixed up so, my bad. Anyway, thanks for correcting my error.

There are people with 1TB EVO's just because their levels can load that much faster and they believe it's gonna run cooler etc making system last longer over time. I can't argue with some of it.

*swings the light* I once paid 100 for a 32MB (yup MB) RLL (Run Length Limited) HDD. 1990 I think it was.

    Cool video Keefy.

John did you try the drive again to see if it worked consistently in your PS4?

Let me see... 500 gb of just games, updates, videos... I hit 500 gb long ago, was getting tired of having to delete, reinstall, redownload, redelete for videos/pics, delete for updates.... I was tired of the delete fest and if I'm not using the games then someone else is.

Cloud storage is also limited + sharefactory.

Enough said, too much data/games, not enough space.

P.S. If disc gets damaged and I deleted because "I don't use it", then I can't play it.
Not all games get "instant" play. Not everyone likes to play pre-frontal versions of games.

Even my friend is in need of a upgrade ASAP and he is trying to use the 500gb as much as he can before he upgrades. Ever had to go through the list of games your friend HASN'T deleted to find one you can play? Not everyone has the luxury of time and/or bandwidth (although discs are obviously more forgiving)

2tb Samsung m9t spinpoint works perfect as of 1.7+ . Sony says so and my PS4 says so.

EDIT: Using my PS4's hard drive with the external case that came with the "seagate" 2tb "external HDD".
Its like having 2tb of storage + 500 gb of backup/sharefactory for the PS4.

Oh btw after Microsoft charging me $130 for a 250 gb X360 hard drive for so long, I happily took that 2tb.

This is where I am different....I dont want to go digital. Physical is what protects your game the most. If I only download a game there is not guarantee I will be able to re download if something happens to my files. I do have digital copies of games but only if I get them dirt cheap.

This is where I have to totally agree with you because I am the exact same way. I prefer physical copies of all my media though, not just my games. I do think that making digital copies of everything I buy is important with regards to media.
