TitanFall 2 Coming to PS4 and Xbox One - Report

A sequel to this year's multiplayer shooter Titanfall will launch for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, a source close to the game's development told The Wall Street Journal in the lead-up to E3.

This is notable because the first Titanfall, developed by Respawn Entertainment and Bluepoint Games, was created exclusively for Xbox platforms (Xbox One, Xbox 360) and PC.

The unannounced game, according to the source, is "in the planning stages." EA declined to comment when approached by The Wall Street Journal. There's no word yet on when it might be released, but don't expect it anytime soon, as EA continues to support the original Titanfall with new DLC.

Earlier this year, a source told GameSpot that Titanfall publisher Electronic Arts had reached a deal with Respawn Entertainment to make a sequel. Another report followed, saying the unannounced sequel would be a multiplatform title.

It makes sense as I don't believe it was close to meeting sales expectations as an exclusive and also we had the reports a month or so ago about it seen running on PS4.

EA are clever. instead of trying to work out a deal with MS to bring TF1 on PS4, which they still may in the future, they are just going to put out a sequel sooner.

that is good and bad. good for those that want TF and now they will have a better game than TF1 (more than likely).

but bad because now TF2 will likely suffer from content issues as well since they're trying to rush it (this is assuming it comes out by march of next year, too early).

so we'll see. maybe they can do it right, they need to have enough people working on the sequel to make this work. otherwise, possible they may be rushing it.

They probably also got more publicity for TitanFall 1 from Microsoft than they would have had if it was multiplatform (of course, all that publicity may have hurt the game in the end as hype levels did seem to be pretty high for a new IP).

yeah, making it exclusive definitely gave it the boost it needed and it's possible not enough PS4 users may have supported the game.

They need to aim for at least 12 vs 12 multiplayer.
Anything less and I just don't care.
