I never minded added media content and functionality. The problem arises when gaming suddenly takes a back seat to these functions which is what it looked like was happening when MS first announced the XB1.

Gaming should never take a back seat to anything on a games console...

Well.....not all that great if Amazon rankings is any indication. Not sure how reliable that is though.

All I know is that it still wasnt selling all that great when the price was "unofficially" cut to $450 and even $400 in some places and that was WITH Kinect and Titanfall. Some places Had the bundle with Forza instead of Titanfall. Hell, I've personally seen it sitting on shelves not selling while bundled for $450 with Kinect, Titanfall AND Forza. At the Microsoft store noless...

I honestly wouldn't understand why people would be so quick to jump on it now that its $400 without anything to be honest with you. When you really look at it, Microsoft made it MORE expensive. Lol O_o

I'm really surprised it isn't taking off. Maybe that third console curse is real.

SONY crawled their way back last gen by having stuff the competition didn't like Blu-Ray, Wifi, HDMI and comparable top quality exclusive games. This gen will be all about comparing games like for like and Xbox will always come up second best.

this is funny considering xbox1 has been stripped of about half of its features to mimic a gaming console...like the ps4.

i think it's the other way around. we are still getting plenty of games and plenty of third party games that would run better.

It'll play most PSVita game cards (No touch / Cameras) and all PSP/PS1 titles up on the store. Support for both Dual Shock 3/4 and 1GB storage.

PSP games will have added AA filter options including mapping the second analog stick for fps games that originally used the face buttons.

Video options are 720p and 1080i.

I am still stuck with 4 PSVita's but I'll be buying this Day 0 fo sho.

Yeah, will play Vita carts or download Vita/PSP games from PSN, but still need the damn still-too-expensive memory cards for that. Nice thing is you can use either PS3 or PS4 controller. Better option for remote play and PS Now than the Vita itself, imo.

There is a bundle for $140 that includes an 8 GB memory card and PS3 controller. Not bad, but if you are going to want to play more than just a couple PSN games at a time, you will want a larger card.

Oh damn...so the PSTV is also like a mini-console?

The Vita and PSP has some nice exclusives on it, even first party ones like Soul Sacrifice, that I want to play but I refuse to play on a tiny screen.

    I'm sold.

I'm glad I brought that up now!!!!
Guys, can PSU do a PSTV special about all of it's features and sticky it to the front page for a while?
Alot of people might think it's just a SONY PS branded streaming box for Movies and the Network, particularly with it's coinciding release schedule.

RedOrb's been here forever and didn't know it was a VitaTV box. I just wanted to know if it was still playing PSP online games too. Thanks everyone for the replies.

Yeah, so, the special collections and limited things on the VITA play on this box on your TV.
It's a streaming box powered by a Super Gameboy version of the PSP/Vita basically, and that is cool!
It lets me play games i might have picked up and put down and ran out of battery and finish them and play longer sittings.
    Again, more cool.

i guess Sony wants to keep putting out hardware as long as it sells and they are already bringing in streaming services that are the babysteps to the future of gaming.

i'm more into streaming than digital. i don't care to own the game, i just wanna play it whenever i want.

Yeah it's a pretty cool device for cheap. $99 bucks for something that plays vita games, a streaming device for games and all the standard movie streaming services, and it works for remote play for PS4. Basically it's just a vita without the screen for $99. What's not to like. I'm excited because I've kind of wanted a vita because I missed it on some cool games but just didn't feel the investment was worth it. But this is right up my alley.

The Xbox was always in the PlayStation since the Xbox is a copy of the PlayStation down to the controller. Live was the only thing that separated the Xbox from the PS and now PSN is better or equal, while Live is no longer the standard. What's funny is the fact that the PS3 (as someone stated) was marketed as a media device primarily with Blu Ray, streaming and a web browser.

If Ms had payed attention, they would have realized that there was no interest for those things in gaming as a main selling point.Oddly enough the PS4 already does all the things the X1 does media wise, but Sony knew that would not sell the console.

I have plenty to play game wise in the next year once the fall get's here and more exclusives will be inbound while MS still only has Halo that get's recognition. Games like The Order, DC and Bloodborne actually has hype along side U4.Other than Gears, as usual there is no excitement for the Xbox outside of Halo.

Plus why do people always forget the EyeToy came out before Kinect and Sony had hands free gaming and cameras both on PS2 and PSP? Rockband exists because of the PS2 and had the USB inputs for the guitar and SingStar mics.

Its essentially a Playstation Vita without the screen and controller built in. You add your own screen by plugging it into your tv/monitor and control it with a DS3 or DS4 controller.

I wondered the same thing myself but the vita has 2 touchpads and you'd have to guesstimate that your doing the gestures/screen touches in the right spot on the controller to correspond with the screen. Its plausible, but doubt theyd do it.

As it is now the ps tv is not compatible with the DS4, they'll probably add the support once it releases
