    Should I Get A Vita?

I've got some spare money coming (Enough for a vita or something of similar price, not for something like a gaming rig or something.) And I was wondering if people would recommend I pick one up.

    Pros
    - I like JRPGs.
    - I'm really interested in playing those PS1 classics.
    - Indies are fun.
    - PSNow.
    - Remote Play.
    - I am a PS+ Member already.

    Cons
-Even though I like JRPG's and Indies, those can't be it.
    -Pricey memory card.
-No more AAA support for Sony.
-No more support in general from Sony.
-I already have a 3DS and an extensive library for it.
    -Bad PS2 ports

If you do recommend a Vita, which model?

I think Sony support might pick up if PS TV takes off. Hopeful, anyway. And I don't think Sony is totally abandoning the Vita although at times it seems like it. Just won't be any more games like Uncharted. Based on your pros/cons, I think you would enjoy the vita. But the library of games is pretty extensive and there are more and more Japanese devs sending games to the west these days.

The memory card is really the big con. Right now though, Amazon has them on sale.

    16GB for ~$38. http://www.amazon.com/16GB-PlayStati...ta+memory+card

    32GB for ~$58 http://www.amazon.com/32GB-PlayStati...ta+memory+card

I haven't checked out the new model, but I hear good things about it and it gives you an extra gig of onboard memory.

    Hope this helps.

What is the ideal memory card size if I plan on going Digital only?

I don't regret getting mine at all. The answer to your question can only come from you though.
Look on the vita store for games and see if u like the offerings plus there was like 30 at E3.

It's a very nice console though.

The ps plus instant collection is worth it alone for me.

Uncharted, gravity rush, wipeout, and sly cooper all free as soon as you power it up

In the vita store if u can access it on pc.

The free ones rotate but the ones that have been free for like a year are Uncharted, wipeout, and gravity rush, terraria, limbo.

If you are PS+ already, go immediately to the PS store and get all the PS+ Vita games. They are going to be falling off sometime soon according to Sony. Even you don't buy a Vita right away, at least you have the games for when you do.

    Get a 32GB. I have a 16, but I'm don't do just digital.

Thank you so much! The amount of free stuff on first boot up is immense enough for me to dive in. So I think you pushed me over.

The older model has a slightly better screen. From what I've read, the newer model has more/better features.

Here are some shots of the screens:

So the Slim model has better battery life and more compact as well as the built in storage, although the built in storage will only hold a single PSP game or a smaller indie title. Most of the big games will require more space, but you can store all your game saves in the internal storage. I haven't held the Slim in my own hands so I can't talk about how much lighter it is, but judging by the pics, they have improved the Start/Select buttons. The small oval buttons on the original are too small and almost flush with the casing.

Really the determining factor is whether the better screen outweighs the improved features. Judging by the pics, I don't see enough difference in screen quality. If I were buying one today, I think I would go with the slim. My $.02.

Yes is the simplest answer, I had the same issue before I brought mine but as soon as I did I never looked back, great little console and the free games and PS+ make it worth the money alone!

Yeah, the number of games you get right off the bat with PS+ is just crazy.

Agreed, and the games that do cost are often very cheap. Killzone is a great FPS, persona, and I highly suggest tearaway by MM. Those games are anywhere between 15 and 40.

I think Sony pretty much already did. They now only see the Vita as a remote play for the ps4 and that's it. They just came out and stated that the vita will get even less first party games now. Which is BS imo.

2000 seems to be the mostly preferred option, this thread on Gaf is full of people with both models and the majority say they prefer the 2000. Plus you get Borderlands 2 with it which you could keep or sell if you're not into that.

Pretty much comes down to OLED or a slightly better battery and more comfortable system to hold. The 1GB internal memory is useless if you're getting a memory card, it's only there to get you started really if you don't have a card.

Do you want to game on the move?
Do you want to game on the move with experiences a bit more fulfilling than a smartphone game?
    Not keen on the 3DS?

    Then yes. Get a vita.

The only thing I don't like about the Vita 2000 is that they dropped the OLED for an LCD instead which you can see makes a HUGE difference in terms of colour reproduction. Having said that though that is the only con and the other features slaps the old Vita around the park.

While others have mentioned that there is only a !GB internal memory on the VITA, in my opinion that was included so that people can at least save their game saves if they don't want to get a memory stick. Unfortunately because of all of the PS+ stuff and the cross buy nature of SEN you really need to get a card!
