H-Hour: World's Elite Get's Upgraded To Unreal 4 Engine (Comparison Video)

    Update! New Flythrough Video!

H-Hour is still in the "proof of concept" faze, but, recently while SOFs Studios has been waiting on funding to finish the final game, they've began to slowly take their POC map and take it from Unreal 3 to Unreal 4.

Remember these images are not final and are only showing the first transitions inside one building, which are also not final.

Here are the results, they are quite the leap:

If you are unaware, H-Hour is the spiritual successor to SOCOM 1 and 2, led by the creative director of the original SOCOM titles.

It's coming to PS4 and PC in 2015.

Nice visual upgrade. Just have to wait to see how the final product turns out. Time will tell if David Sears truly was the genius behind the franchise or not. I hope he turns out to be the savior we all thought he would be.

You're in luck, that's the core formula they were shooting for in the proof of concept, a fun experience that strongly resembled what fans of S1/S2 wanted back.

They weren't going after visuals or animations or any of the fancy stuff, that all comes later down the road.

Here's a video that explains that:

no freaking way...this just rekindled my interest into the game. i was gonna buy it anwyay because no shooter comes close to SOCOM but they've just sweetened the deal.

I expected a nice visual upgrade but I was NOT expecting it too look this good.

Can't wait to see the entire map redone and the inside of the church finished.

Apparently they want to make it have more of a broken down and "wasted" appearance, I can't wait.

taking a hands off approach with this game, already backed it so my copy will be here day 1. SOF is trying to be on sony's stage at E3 2015, good luck to them. here's hoping the game turns out ok, i stopped posting on the official forum because almost all the so called vets wants the game to be a copy of socom 2 instead of the "spiritual successor" tag the devs are going for

i actually don't mind if it's a spiritual successor...as long as it's priced "right". i won't pay $60 for a game that's based on a game from 2001/2. the most i'll pay is $50...$40 would be the sweet spot.

The Unreal 3 pics were of boring looking walls.
The unreal 4 were nice candle lit scenes with various objects.
Thats the main reason why U4 scenes looks loads better.

But why chose the boring looking walls in the first place? Surely everything in the previous UE3 game didn't all look so dull and lifeless and boring. IF it did then that would have been one $#@!ty looking game.
I think they purposely chose boring scenes to compare to make the differences more obvious.

None of this means anything until they actually get any funding which it's looking like they are having a hard time getting......

PEOPLE CROWD FUNDED AN UNREAL FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER!!!!!????

    O.M.GEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRD!!!!

the hell did they think the end result would be? it would've been the same drivel seen in every other unreal 3 powered game! whoa, those people put so much faith in the devs! o_O

Hopefully the new animation system in U4 means they can rework their systems and make the game the way they intend it to be and not be constrained to the absolute $#@! U3 seemed to spit out....

The visuals have gotten a nice bump, hopefully this extends to the gameplay too. You can't "play" good looking visuals.

Well, actually the fans of that particular style only really need the graphics to a minor degree. The original games they're trying to emulate were all about the game-play. I can't believe they just didn't go and get the old games and just remaster the damn things and open up the servers again with a fresh coat of paint and a bump to the controls and graphics. I wonder who own the code and rights to the originals?

The reason why hhour is happening, not only are they refusing to remake or re released Socom 1/2, they went ahead and shut down the confrontation servers! Basically no tactical 3rd person shooter on Playstation right now...except for s2 via xlink

The proof of concept they created focused solely on the gameplay and making it fun to play. They aren't trying to stun everyone with the visuals, they are firm believers that gameplay is key. Unfortunately most people unaware of the SOCOM franchise and it's gameplay need to be reassured by having visuals that are AAA quality to be even slightly interested (which Unreal 4 will definitely will help here).

They aren't trying to copy Call of Duty or make a game with gimmicks that sell a lot of MP games these days. They want a game that is skill based and that captures the intensity and fundamentals that have been missing in many AAA titles these days.

These images are only a first look glimpse at transitioning their concept map into the Unreal 4 Engine.

This is a third person shooter based heavily on the SOCOM franchise. From what we've seen so far they've kept their word on bringing back the core gameplay experience we've been wanting since S3 was released (in many people's opinion the downfall of the series).

Great gameplay attracts the die hard fans, but Great visuals sell games. The die hard fans are in the minority.
It needs the visuals to attract the players.
