YouTube Is Getting 60 FPS Support. FINALLY.

    source

YouTube videos are about to get a significant upgrade: Per the YouTube Creators Twitter feed, support for 48 and 60fps YouTube videos is coming soon.
Higher frame-rates will be a boon to anyone who wants to post footage of video games in action, particularly PC games, as many of them run at frame rates above YouTube's current 24fps frame rate. As a result, YouTube videos should give a much better sense of what the game in the video actually looks like to the person playing it.
Good news! I've been using Nvidia's Shadowplay to record 60fps videos for a little while now, and it's nice to know I'll finally be able to easily share those online.
    About bloody time.

Hooray! Taken them long enough and has been a requested feature for a few years now.

Not really needed. 24fps for video is sufficient. Hated the 48fps version of The Hobbit.

It's needed for game videos though. I agree the Hobbit looked a bit off.

Will be good for sports too.

Hobbit looked weird due to not knowing how to utilise everything properly yet, the film makers have had a century of getting the lighting and effects right for 24FPS and barely any time for 48.

Since most movies are 24FPS it doesn't matter, they will still be 24FPS on youtube.

Cool! Now they need to fix their god-awful compression algorithms which completely rape HD videos of their quality during conversion. They should take notes from Vimeo.

    QFT.

I really don't know what is holding them back - if Vimeo can do it, then why the hell not Youtube?

Exactly and yet YouTubers are going to record boring rants / unboxings in 60fps just because they can clogging up bandwidth. If you have 24fps on your fancy camera they should really use it.

Video games and animation tho should most definitely upload in 60fps tho.

EDIT: 60fps version not yet compatible with all browsers - works great on my phone though lol.

4k was added to youtube a while back, gives decent looking image for 1080p sources.
Would be nice to see option for a 4k 60hz video. (with 3D if possible.)

Not going to lie, I don't care at all that YT now uses 60 FPS.. Honestly I don't see the usage of this.. Everything people ask for on YouTube is not being made/ignored/whatever (e.g. not forcing that $#@!ty google plus upon people) but whatever they put on there seems to be not THAT useful... It's not that amazing that they now support 60 fps clips...
