    PS3 Designs

Ooooh no. All the shells i see are horrible. My opinion i know but wow, i would be upset if my Sony Nex Gen console goes retro...or for that matter alien. I've have always thought my PS2 console is sexy...black and slender w/h the blue accent- if i were that crazy about it dressing things ive blue wrap neon on her. This is my first glimpse @ anything related to the PS3 and i am ....hoping it is not what is to come. Let me know how you feel m8s. Ok nuff said back to the beer.

Come back when your not drunk, thanks. We have not seen the PS3 console yet so no one has a clue what it looks like. Any picture you see are concept images made up by fans and nothing more.

It wasn't necessarily a putdown, I was just being a wise ass. Welcome to the boards though.

Heres another one I came up with. This one fits more into sony's current "hourglass figure" style. Suprisingly, this is the first one I'v seen that contains basic DVD/CD controlls.

though...where's the disk drive -.- and the point of 2 hard disk drives if I'm guessing right

Though GREAT WORK! I like the way you kept the 4 ports etc, it looks great!

Maybe you could move the disk drive to one side and make the screen reader bigger...and add the original PS logo?

I was bored tonight and after looking at some of those pics i decided to create one myself

Nothing too flashy, would look at home in your home entertainment unit. same basic controller design, changed to usb connections, a nice LSD screen display and a remote( hopefully they include one this time.

BTW hey all, this is my 1st post here

That is quite a clever design, I like the idea of having USB for the controllers.

I actually don't like the idea of USB controllers, because it won't be backward compatible with other controllers

my opinions: (hello btw, me is new here)

I recon based on the PSX design, sony is unfortunately going to go all ipod pearly white on our asses. I'm not saying that the ipod is a bad thing, hell no, i have one meself and its awsome but this is not good for a sony product.

hopefully this is just the psx and in fat sony have their cheif nig nogs on the job cooking up somthing yummy.

I predict something with either a perly finnish to it, plastic + glass kinda thing, or sumthing brushed. This would go with current products from sony like the new MD player. but i have a feeling that these would be two diferent design departments.

I would HOPE to see something with similar dimensions to the PS2, I want this thing to be noticed sitting under my TV! miniturization is not always good!
It should be a plain rectangle not grooves or holes or fins or airfoils, it should have the nice feature of functioning flat and upright again.

the only indentation in the surfaces should be the logo, machine drilled into the top surface no colouring, and the power button open tray button for this console! No something far cooler! if anyone has ever seen one of those funky dry ice cool boxes in films, usually storing body parts, they open on touch. They drop slightly below the surface of the box and then slide out of sight revealing the open box, in the ps3's case it would reveal the disk, and to be even cooler it should have a cool aqua blue light underneath. just enough to see in the dark.

I am going to go and model some of these ideas in whatever program i can find......

    mac

edit - just forgot to mention that the ps3 will have controllers, they should be the same posibly with more edges where curves are not needed. the hard drive would remove the need for a meroy slot but a nice addition would be a usb port on the back which you can use to take your save games arround with you. i like wireless controllers, thats cool, just have a nice recharge dock next to the tv or sumthing, ( power is not an issue, they hardly send vasts ammounts of data in complicated strings, do they....)

round the back of the console there will obviously be vents and stuff but i would like to see some more standard fans that peeps can replace nice and easy, my ps2 fans look like they were used in a vacume cleaner!
    the above belongs to me!!!

Ahh but here in lies the problem.

Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo don't want their console to go unnoticed in your house. If they could, without pissing off customers, they would add strobes and laser lights to the things to grab attention.

They want people to come over to your house and go "Wow, what is that! Is that the new Game System XYZ?" If they can't do that, the minimum they want is for people to look down and see that you have their next generation console and hopefully not their competitiors.

This is because nothing sells products like word of mouth and product placement. Seeing a console in friends house technically qualifies as both.
