    WASD, ESDF, Arrows or other?

What keys do you use for movement in your games?

I use WASD and have since Halo which was pretty much the first FPS I played properly on my PC. I have toyed with ESDF in the past, but I kept reverting to WASD and wondering why my character was not moving so after about a week of that I switched back.

Do you use a custom device such as the Razer Nostromo for example.

When I was a whipper snapper and played UT99 I used to use the arrow keys as was closer and felt more comfortable. Now I'm strictly WASD

i think everyone at one time used the arrow keys, I know I did when playing on Duke 3D on friends computers when we had a LAN, at those times I did not have a PC of my own.

I always use WASD, but I played COD4 with a totally different setup.. It'll be ridiculously weird, but I used wasd literally the way it was on an azerty keyboard
I played cod4 like that and was stated as a high-skilled player (did some competitive gaming). Nobody got how I actually did it, but.. I was used to it

What are the benefits of ESDF? I'm a lefty, but the mouse is still on the right side. I use WASD.

ESDF, ever since Quake III Arena. Used to then bind weapons to QWRTAGZXCVB. Easy access. Has stuck ever since then.

You have more buttons on the left of your movement keys, effectively giving you a larger array of buttons available in your local movement space.

Not really worth it imo. Anyone who's become used to keyboard gaming can just reach over anyway and quickly hit what they need.

Yeah I don't get it. You can still use shift, caps lock etc when using WASD.

Which I can still hit with ESDF. Suppose it depends what you're learned to be comfortable with.

I still use arrow keys, thanks to the days of Doom. I've tried WASD but it doesn't feel comfortable.

WASD I've never used anything else except maybe the arrow keys.

Focus. Control. Conviction. Resolve. A true ace lacks none of these attributes. Nothing can deter you from the task at hand except your own fears. This is your sky.
