A truly dynamic open world game? Very nice. It sounds like WiLD could be the biggest PS4 game.

I'm interested just because it's something different. But the game needs to truly be alive for it to work though, otherwise it's effectively a general walk and hunt simulator.

If I'm playing as a wolf I should be able to hunt down other animals and have to play cautious around larger creatures/humans. I should be able to wipe out local populations if I hunt too aggressively as a human, which will affect the ecosystem and maybe even lead to my own starvation unless I pack up and move. I should be able to fly over the land as a bird and see a bear catching salmon in a river, then suddenly I hear a swoop and I'm dinner for an eagle. If the developers really want to go far, add advanced seasonal changes and even environmental events like storms, tornadoes, and forest fires. All of which too affect the ecosystem.

Maybe my wants are ambitious but I don't want to just survive in this world like I have all other similar games. I want to live.

How would you feel if there was permadeath in the game?

    Depends on how it works.

Imagine if when you died you can either select a new life form or it randomly places you as one, from birth or maybe midway into its life. You might suddenly spawn in as a buck getting shot with an arrow or spawn as a baby rat and start scurrying around.

That doesn't really answer your question though. Sorry. I'm kinda hyped for this game and I have a lot of ideas in my head.

I think a system where when you die, your play ends with that creature. Definitely awesome. But I would like if the world was persistent. So let's say you as a large bear go into a human camp at night and murder the hunters in their sleep. If you died later on, spawned as a bird, and flew back to that camp it would have the bodies laying around and everything would still be destroyed. It would really help cement the consequences and influences of your actions in the world. It would be lame if the world reset whenever you died.

There may need to be a greater incentive not to die beyond just the sake of it. Perhaps a level system, like maybe as a human you develop a higher stamina from a lot of hunting and walking, or as a bird you can coast longer without needing to flap your wings and expend additional calories. As deer you move quieter to avoid hunters, fish can swim faster to catch prey or avoid predators, etc.

When I saw this the first thing that came to mind was B.C. Anyone else remember that game that never came?

I'm definitely intrigued by this one.

They both become utterly useless once you start to open up Windows....

Well, more than some cosmetic changes with small effects I guess. Heavy snowfall could freeze you if you can't stay warm. A particularly dry summer might kill the grass in the plains, which the animal you're playing as may primarily rely on. Little details like that which really help tie everything together.

I never thought I'd be excited by the idea of a Summer-Winter migration animal simulator.

I mentioned that on the first page on another note: I vote we put Nerevar on the development team, ideas are fantastic. Can I get a second vote anyone?

    That sounds perfect.

So this is essentially a game about being throw into a random role and playing out that role? That's just a general question not directed at you.

Yeah, it sounds like you can pretty much do your own thing which is great for an open world game.

Maybe I'm just looking out for the positive in the Day Z scenario. The game was well loved & recieved on PC originally. It was just the updates stopped coming at a certain point. I'm not pointing fingers or anything but perhaps the PC version was a beta. Sony is paying them to develop a Ps4 version that works instead of random steam donations. Especially when you consider Rust was surpassing it in the overall survival genre. I'm thinking Sony sold them on the idea that a console without many AAA games would sell more copies than them simply trying to turn the game into a AAA title on PC which would undoubtably fail.

    TLDR;

Hopefully the devs have been spending most their recent dev time on the Ps4 version because the long term sales could far exceed what the PC version would do. It will give Sony a good idea what is good/bad/ugly & can be avoided for H1Z1.
