On XBO? The service level refers to voice chat and party chat on the game.

Hi Xbox members. Are you having trouble connecting to Party Chat on Diablo III on Xbox One and Xbox 360? Additionally, Xbox One users, are you experiencing server unavailability issues? Us too, but we’re working alongside our partner to get these issues fixed ASAP! We’ll keep you posted when we have more information on this issue. In the meantime, thanks for staying patient.

The fun thing about this whole thing is that they also reported that there was a bomb on the flight where SOE-president John Smedley was on. This caused the fact that the plane landed somewhere to get searched and they're now probably searching after the guys who tweeted that, meaning there's a chance for jail for'm. "Brilliant" "hackers"

FBI doesn't care about PSN being DDOSed, they care about the bomb threat

that may be true but FBI was involved when PSN was down in 2011. it seems they don't take this as serious as they should be.

It isn't something you can fix. DDoS exists because the internet exists. All companies are susceptible.

The only way to prevent DDoS is to have an internet connection larger than the entire world combined (for pure overkill sake).

You can mitigate the damage, but you can never avoid it entirely.

In 2011 there was a breach in peoples privacy. Bank account details etc. etc. US citizens, no less. The FBI were obligated to investigate.

With DDoS becoming a thing many companies have taken steps to secure their private data. The FBI are probably on this for the bomb threat.

In truth, these guys always get found out. It may take time, but they invariably get traced. Hope they go down for many many years.

While they claim the threat was them just passing on what they heard, I think the nexus is their attack on Sony, the Sony admin on the plane, and the taunting. I hope they lock these guys or guy up for a long time.

Yes they are but you can make it more difficult for hackers to do it. More servers would be a good start.

That would just be a waste of money. Servers aren't cheap. Having redundant servers on the basis you might get DDoS'd isn't good business planning.

The only thing you can do is ensure your network is secure. The attack merely comes off as an inconvenience that way.

Besides, it does take some effort by the hackers to effectively create an internet connection bigger than that which the large corporations use. Sony, Microsoft, and Co. will have really large connections to begin with. It's no small feat to flood them to the point of unresponsiveness. These guys aren't doing it from a single PC in their mom's basement....(well they actually might, but that single PC wont be 'attacking' directly)

I've been having trouble logging into XBL for the past couple of days.

I tried logging in last night and it didn't let me. I should say on the XONE; I was able to connect on the X360, at least login, can't say about playing didn't try.

Probably not related to this but very possible (since I was able to login to the PSN occasionally.) Timing of the issues has been weird. I've been having trouble logging on to XBL since....this past thursday....did a restart (same with PS3 -- now it makes sense if it has been DDOS) and which fixed it but it keeps happening.

@brandonwash - sorry not sure how I ended up quoting you.
