Has anyone successfully moved away from PC to a Tablet?

Has anyone done this or are looking at it as an option?
I don't game much on my PC anymore, last game I played was South Park: Stick Of Truth. (Awesome game BTW)
Generally it is used for internet and the occasional bit of work stuff.

So gaming out the way, I imagine I can do pretty much everything else on it. Watch movies, access backups etc etc.
Oh and if I go with the Z3 then it will be able to play PS4 titles so gaming won't be completely out.

Are there any drawbacks anyone has encountered with tablets?
I imagine battery life shouldn't be much different to owning a laptop.

What does PSU think? Would you do it?

A tablet is convenient, but I can't imagine it replacing a computer. Laptop tablet hybrids are an option, but I don't have any experience with them.

If gaming and power using (heavy or multiple tasks) are off the list for you then a tablet sounds like it could work well. The primary advantage of course is the mobility of the device, and if that appeals to you then I say go for it. But do keep consider that tablets are not always practical for circumstances you may come across. Touch screens work decent for typical usage but it'll become a strain for typing or doing work.

Personally, I can't imagine moving from a proper OS environment to a tablet as a dedicated device. You're losing a lot of control and functionality. Have you considered a Windows 8 tablet? I know some of them come with those little stands and flexible keyboards effectively turning the tablet into a laptop for work or lots of typing.

My Surfrace Pro has replaced my laptop completely. I love that thing!

However, i still have a main PC that has my drives networked. Essentially, when im at home, all my devices use the same drives for data storage. So my tablet has 4TB (effectively) of storage. I could try to make that online....but not exactly clamouring for space on a device with nothing on it

Plus, i can run Steam in house streaming to my tablet, so it kind of counts as a gaming device to an extent and can play games at their highest settings

I was hoping I could get a stand and keyboard for times I want to write any large documentation.
Not sure which i'll be getting yet but am leaning towards the Z3 due to the added PS4 remote-play options.

Id otn think they are meant to replace, just accompany for those situations where a laptop is too big and bulky.

I'd say a Tablet would only be beneficial if I was always on the move.

Honestly, I have not used my PC is quite some time and only use it now to back up music, images and videos I take or on the rare occasion I have to use a website that doesn't support a mobile browser. Otherwise I use my HTC ONE M8 smartphone for everything now.

I own a Galaxy Tab S 8.4 tablet which I mainly use to browse web and play some android games. My computer isn't going anywhere because I need it to school and work (programming :P).

Every time I use a tablet, it makes me realize how much I need a computer. They do a lot of cool things, but they could never replace my computer.

In my case the iPad has taken over most of web browsing, paying bills, and my gf games a lot on it. Haven't sat in front of the computer with a cup of coffee in the morning for years.

I couldn't be without a computer though. It does a lot of heavy lifting in the background. It stores all my data, acts as a server 24/7, photo/video editing, controls my home theatre etc. Removing the computer would cripple the rest of the house.

The closest you'll get to a gaming PC in tablet form right now is the highest spec version of the Surface Pro 3 which is an absolute fortune.

I use my ageing iPad 3(?) far more than I use my laptop for general browsing but I don't use it as much as my PC. It's very restricted as to what you can and can't do.

I see tablets as things that you never really need until you get one. Then when you have one you start to wonder how you got by without one. It would never replace my PC or my laptop though.

I use my tablets for general web browsing and watching Netflix. Until Microsoft decide to make Visual Studio for Android, they are a million miles away from replacing my desktop or laptop.

even it happens, I don't see how someone can develop a software on a tablet, I can't imagine myself coding on a tablet, it is like playing ps4 with an snes gamepad...
