Those sneaky dudes! You'd think they'd make a big deal about it. Very good. Does it work on any game and even games that aren't in Steam?

According to some people on reddit, yes it works with non-steam games.

hmm weird, i wonder why they'd build it into the system.

i wonder if it has to do with convenience...sort of like why consoles are so popular for hmm...

I guess it is convenience, I've never really wanted to use Twitch but this is good for when I want to watch a friend play. I see what you're trying to do

    NOT GOING TO WORK SUFI!

lol but i'm not biased, i know that consoles have been trying to immitate PCs for a very long time now and i believe the best is somewhere in the middle. honestly Sony is doing it right. no bull$#@!, just gaming. consoles are already too weak to be NOT focusing on power.

anyway, i love the twitch/ustream feature. especially ustream. i like watching people.

It's only slightly more convenient to do a few clicks via Steam than it is to do it via a web browser, but PCs are multitasking kings so it's never been an issue before. Mostly it'll bring it closer to the average gamer as an active feature and not something they can simply do.

that's exactly the problem. it's a few clicks that matter. they're not doing it for the hardcore gamer, they're doing it for the average gamer who doesn't know how else to stream.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it a problem. If you wanted to stream your game then you just do it. If you're a PC gamer but completely incompetent about how to do even basic things then that's on you.

you're creating a situation where you could lose a sale. that's why steam is so popular because it's giving people convenience and well good prices as well.

you never want to say that it's the customer's fault for not knowing, you want to create ways to make it easier for the customer.

Not sure what this has to do with sales.

And yes, you can fully blame someone for not learning how to do things.

I do. the entire reason for having steam is two things: 1) support (games/deals) 2) features.

And yes, you can fully blame someone for not learning how to do things.
you can blame them but you will also lose them, well not you but whoever is concerned with selling games on PC. that's the problem with the PC platform, no one wants to make it more accessible. this is precisely why people pay higher on games/services to play on weaker hardware.

Anyone tried this out yet? I had the option there but didn't do it as decided I wanted to play rather than watch.

I couldn't get it to work friend of mine was playing ARMA 2 so maybe that game doesn't support it, but I couldn't find any settings to let people watch me.

Yeah I've tried it but most of my friends aren't on the beta version of Steam so haven't been able to try it out yet.

Tried it with a friend over in Scotland. It worked alright enough (clear image and sound), but there was a full 10-15 second delay.

At least it is working currently. it'll take a while before it is at a good level. Was trying to watch a friend play Battle Royale (Arma 3 mod). Going to give it another go tonight.

actually iirc, PS4 also has a 10-15 sec delay. there is no delay when you're watching your friend play through shareplay but when it's broadcasted to the internet, there's a delay. shareplay is cool because it's a direct contact.

Likely because it runs though the Steam (or in the PS4, Sony's) servers. Doesn't seem to be a direct connection to others for steam because at any time it can be opened for anyone else to view.

I guess a delay can't really be helped then.

that's where i'm leaning towards. i guess the delay isn't a big deal because it's not like you're talking to the person...but when i was talking to my friend as he was streaming through twitch, it created this delay where while i could talk to him normally through the party chat, i would still hear him through the stream 15 secs later. which was rather annoying.

That's one thing I've noticed about PS4 voice chat since getting one.

I hate not having a push-to-talk option. Nothing worse than open mic.
