PlayStation 2 turns 15 years old

That said, do you have a favorite PS2 moment?

Here are some stats about the console worth posting:

Sold over 155 million units, making it the best-selling video game console.
Shipped 19.57 million units 18 months after release.
Software library of over 3,874 games which have sold 1.5 billion copies.

Still have my PS2 Slim with a few games, shall never let it go unless it breaks!

Probably my best memory was playing Time Splitters with a load of mates when it was first released, good times!

I still have mine, too. There are quite a few games I haven't got around to playing yet!

A lot of great memories, but off the top of my head I would say my favourite was borrowing GTA III from a friend and being completely blown away by it.

I would probably say that my favorite PS2 moment was playing Bully for the first time at a friend's house before buying my own copy. I spent a total of 300 hours playing it. I also recall the fact that it was using an updated GTA: San Andreas engine and it impressed me how much better the visuals looked compared to the GTA games.

Rising the sword to find the path, on a big, fine horse, after exiting the castle , shadow of colossus first minutes, I will never forget.
Raining heavily, Kratos on a ship wreck, fighting with a 3 headed hydra, thunders hits on the background.
DMC 3 oppening scene, amazing casting&story also weapon combos, bosses everything.

After reading my own comment, the biggest thing I missed from that era is real boss fights. Now I think about it, I haven't been in one in the ps4 era that can challange to those days.

Damn, so hard to pick a favorite moment for my ps2. To me, it was a very sweet time in gaming. Like Mullah, Socom 2 is high up there. I just remember being so impressed being able to go intro First Person View in the MGS2 demo, spent HOURS playing that demo. I would sit there at the bar and shoot all the bottles watching them break. Shoot the bucket of ice to watch it melt. Pretty big jump from PS1 era stuff.

I just miss the PS2 era boss fights way better than most I've experience on PS3 haven't played PS4 so yeah.

I still miss Metal Gear Solid 3 to this day same with FFX and yeah I know the re-releases are there, but it won't compare to cracking it open on PS2.

I still miss Kingdom Hearts that da*n X-play review made me get that game good times good times.

God yes that's what I missed last generation too many shooters. Getting a PS2 at the time was amazing played the hell out of Tekken Tag Tournament. Played FFX and the graphics were so mindblowing for it's time. Had so much more fun on PS2 over most games last gen.

Happy Birthday PS2! I have multiple machines, two fats and two slims. One of the fats is homebrewed with ToxicOS and a hard-drive for my games.

Been playing Persona 3 the last few weeks on my PS2. Getting hyped up for Persona 5.

I feel like it was when Activision switched from putting out World War II shooters to modern day shooters with Call of Duty 4 that most other publishers wanted to emulate the same experience and success. And I enjoyed Call of Duty 4 at the time but over the years, I lost interest, and now I don't even want to go back to it.

We did see some unique games like Mirror's Edge and Valkyria Chronicles so it wasn't all bad but overall it wasn't quite like the PS2 days where everything was developed in mind of having no post-release patches or locked content.

Nice! I remember playing Persona 3 FES for the first time and falling in love with its story, gameplay, music... pretty much everything about it. And then Persona 4 came out and I enjoyed it too. Great PS2 games late into the console's lifespan.

I too enjoyed the original COD:MW fun campaign despite it being short and fun multiplayer. Yet after COD:MW2 I enjoyed it but lost interest over time and then lost interest in the series in general. World War shooters were fun too when I look back.

Locked content and DLC is a $#@! of a thing. I want to have a another go at Mirror's Edge enjoyed the demo. Valkyria Chronicles was infact one of the best games of the generation loved the artstyle, battle system and characters.

I remember hearing good things of the Persona series then I brought 3 and then suddenly I got addicted to it an amazing game.Persona 4 I loved as much as well and got P4:Golden played the heck out of it.
Persona 5 looks good so far.

I still enjoy a session of Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 in the evening sometimes, which is why I wish they would allow backwards compatibility on the PS4!

They were brilliant, had some great times staying up all night over a mates house trying to complete the game in a couple of hours, funnily enough me and the same mate still do sometimes even now!

The PS2 was ahead of its time. There is way too many memories to nail it down to just one. The countless hours I've put in from MGS3 and Smackdown vs. Raw '06. Those two games alone made that system The GOAT. These new consoles freakin' wish. Damn shame too.

I LOVED collecting PSM magazines during the PS2 days. That's where I got all my gaming news from and cheat codes for GTA games. Best memory would probably be playing DMC and MGS2 and MGS3. I got 20 playthroughs with DMC, 9 with MGS2 and 2 with MGS3. But the Action Replay gameshark disc was super fun to use with GTA San Andreas, which is probably my best memory of PS2 ever. I never got onto the internet with PS2. We still had dial-up in our home and being able to play on the Internet with players from around the world seemed like a dream to me. Then I got PS3 and a proper cable ISP. I was so excited to play with players from around the world...but, it turns out that got kinda boring fast. I still prefer couch multiplayer, where you actually have friends over, instead of on a microphone. Much more fun that way. I guess I'm used to playing online since no one has time to hang out anymore.
