Star Citizen Client wil end up at the size of 100 GB

Client of Star Citizen will be a file of 100GB

The client of the full gecrowdfunde space sim Star Citizen is around 100 GB take after installation on the hard drive. That says developer Roberts Space Industries on its official forum.

In addition to the total size of the game developer writes Jeremy Mask on the forum that it is impossible to reduce the size of the client to bring back even further to, for example, 30 to 40GB, by applying additional compression or removal of game components. These possibilities were suggested by a poster on the Star Citizen Forum.

Mask puts on the forum that each patch hundreds of new game elements will contain, some up to 200MB per piece may be, leading to patches of 2 to 6GB. If parts of the source code must be restructured, it will be 30 to 40 percent of the content to be downloaded again. Patches in the amount of 14 to 20GB will then also come to belong to the possibilities.

So.. This is roughly translated with Google Translate.
    A short version of the article;
The game'll take up to 100GB on your hard drive. The patches will contain hundresds of new elements for the game, which can be up to 200 MB per piece, eventually leading to patches with size 2 to 6 GB.
There's also a good chance that there'll be patches that go from 14 to 20 GB if the possibility comes along.

I have this game and holy crap.
    100 GB.

Speaking of Star Citizen, the new patch is now out and it's not that big... just a few GB.

The game is currently sitting pretty at 30GB!

Sounds really.. not bloated.. Sprawling. I want to sit down and experience this thing without investing time and effort into it beforehand. Maybe at a Lan party or something.

    Yeah indeed Varsh..

I don't update my SC that often so when I actually update is there's more (interesting) stuff to figure out..
Might as well start updating more often if I think about it because 100 GB is not nothing :l

I knew this game was going to be huge from the get go. Considering the content they wanted in the game and wanting it to be properly playable on PCs a few years in the future, I just knew that it means "several BDs install" from the get go and well, I guess right!

I've been deliberately keeping my client up to date because of this and I think you should do too.

    Maybe nearby in the future.

The update'll be quite big so I'll have to see when I update because if it's going to be a lot of GBs, then there's the $#@!ty part of your provider being an ass and blocking off your connection for downloading too much -.-

Make that $18000! Good grief that's expensive. Well non-of it is LTI any more so it's pointless spending that much.

They're doing away with LODs, if you watched their PAX East conference they decided to have only a single LOD to keep the size of the game down, also it makes more sense for the new destruction system they have in place. So all in all if you can run this game smoothly now then you'll be able to do it later. I can get ~70FPS now at 1080p so so far so good.

Here's 3 random screenshots on the game's visuals I just took.
It's only the drone simulator mode so it's not too special or anything, but it's not looking all that bad imo.

It looks as though there'll be ground combat plus you can also land on planets so here's hoping, if not it'll most likely just be cities.
