So the 3DS version doesn't have random encounters? That's an awesome change, along with the added voice acting. Random encounters really hampers the fun of exploring, since you're basically punished for doing so.

I really hope this comes to PS4 at some point. Not a fan of handhelds.

Dragon Quest IX was the same way although Dragon Quest VIII did have certain strong regular monsters in each area that would appear out in the open.

I thought you were going to pick it up for the PS2? Anyways, I'm pretty sure Dragon Quest XI will release on the PS4 first and that's at least two years away for western audiences.

Glad in this version they no longer have random encounters so this is good. I do wonder like Xenoblade on 3DS you had to have the newest 3DS I wonder if that's the case with this.

If this comes west i'll consider picking this up.
    Playing - Danganronpa 1 then i'll play 2(Vita), Samurai Warriors 4 (PS3)

I'm just hoping they announce this improved version, so I can play it instead. If they don't I'll probably just play the PS2 version.

To be honest though, I did some research and saw it takes about 70-80 hours to beat the story alone. That's a commitment lol. Does this game stay fun throughout?

I too had to looked at getting the PS2 version but can't find it in my country and have to import it from EU/UK. So since this was announced I may wait.

It's pretty old-school, despite the jump to fully-3D environments and voice acting. There's a lot of grinding but the appeal in leveling up is to learn new skills and become more proficient with your weapons.

I think the more immediate challenge is getting used to the slower battles. I like the way Dragon Quest IX improves them - not just by seeing the monsters out in the open so you can choose whether to fight or not but also making the turn-based gameplay a little more cinematic.

This seems to just be regular 3DS. Hence the graphical crapness.

I think Xenoblade was just their 1 trick pony for the New 3DS.
