Halo Series Reaches 65 million sold

Microsoft's Halo series, one of the company's crown jewels, has reached a new sales milestone. The sci-fi shooter series, which debuted in 2001 on Xbox with Halo: Combat Evolved, has now sold more than 65 million units, Microsoft announced.

This is up from 60 million Halo titles sold worldwide in October 2014.

Helping to push Halo to its new sales milestone was in all likelihood November 2014's Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Microsoft has not announced a specific sales figure for this game, but it's likely that it continues to move units, as it's now featured in Xbox One system bundles.

Sounds like they shifted 5 million odd units of MCC. Not bad.

Not surprised, the first game was revolutionary for it's time and helped the Xbox become a major force in gaming plus it will always have it's long term fans, good for them!

crazy what one game can do right?

i'm actually kind of surprised that this number is kind of low compared to some other heavy hitters. no i'm not talking about wii sports lol.

considering GTA 5 sold like what...55m at least by itself? i think the GT series is around this much as well. maybe 70m but i could be wrong. but then again GTA is multiplat...but around 55m is still insane for one title. i hate that though because Rockstar are greedy $#@!s.

actually they weren't doing that well until GTA 5 arrived. I don't think GTA 4 even got close to what 5 has.

It did more than 25 millions, and the series itself has done over 105 million.
    That's not exactly bad.
That would be about 160 million now.

I think Halo has had a bigger impact per every sale they've made than most other exclusives. people still may not know about GT but quite a few people know about Halo. it's more mainstream.

edit:since Naxi put it that way, I could see why you would think that. It branches out further.

It's due to what they've done with the brand. It's expanded to books, series, machinima, and toys.

I know Halo MCC is "1" game, but should it be counted as such?
