He's got a banking/finance background, rather than being in the trenches of game development as Iwata was. I imagine that this means a more fiscally conservative approach, fewer weird game-related risks. Probably good for Nintendo the corporation. I was kind of hoping they'd appoint someone with a fresh vision. Granted, I don't know much about him, but my first impression is that he's more a conservative type of guy who will not shift the culture in any major way.

I don't think they can do any worse ... but it IS Nintendo.“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything - anger, anxiety, or possessions - we cannot be free.”

I know Nintendo don't talk too much about finance stuff but I bet if you compared the budgets they spend on their big games, it'd be a fraction of something like a CoD or Assassin's Creed budget.
