Do you draw? Some of my stuff...

I started drawing again earlier this year but don't upload much. Here's some of my stuff:

It's concept art for a story I'd like to write called Checkmate: New York City.

"John, Marcus and Alice are three friends living in a post-9/11 New York City when they find themselves under attack by the Prince of Darkness and his gray-skinned demon army.
Meanwhile, John's father, working as one of New York's Finest, goes missing and an angel calling himself Michael is sighted walking among others trapped in the city.
As John, Marcus and Alice awaken their holy warrior powers -- gaining super-human reflexes and wielding powerful swords -- they clash with the Prince of Darkness and the fate of the greatest city on Earth is realized."
Feel free to leave a comment! I may upload more artwork in the coming months.

They're fictional characters I created, yes. Some names like Prince of Darkness and Michael are allusions to the poem, Paradise Lost.

They went through several changes over the years. For example, I used to draw John with wavy blonde hair and he would always wear his hood up so you never got to see his face but now you see him with shorter hair and his hood lowered as well as the clothes and weapons for all of three characters having also changed. The next step is to give them likable personalities.

What I mean is that this is something I never gave too much thought when drawing and writing the first time around (back in high school) and now I'm taking more seriously.

I used to draw fighting characters like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat in the past, i still have them on a notebook. Some of them were ridiculous in face, but I am proud because i was very young back then with some good ideas.
Paradise Lost... i know only the band, that i like some of their older works.
Only these three people are u draw or u have more to share ?

I just have the above drawings for now to share.

I haven't really finalized Prince of Darkness or Michael yet apart from a couple ideas. Prince of Darkness, for example, has this huge X-shaped scar on his chest and he's very muscular. A part of me wants to cover his face with bandages or some kind of terrifying mask but another part of me wants to give him a face, albeit his own, like I've done with the three protagonists.

All I really know about Michael right now is that he'll have long hair and angel wings... not traditional feathered angel wings but wings that appear to be made entirely of light.

I was pretty similar. I used to draw Dragonball Z characters back in the day. They were pretty damn good to be honest, but I have no idea where they are now. Maybe I can dig around the attic...

Thanks, but I'm my own worst critic.

One day I'll think something is pretty good and a couple days later I'll look back on it and notice a bunch of mistakes. Certain features might end up exaggerated and I don't always draw with a fixed perspective. So I can add a lot of detail and shading to my drawings but it's worthless if the subject looks off. On the other hand, I think it's good to always see room for improvement.

Stefano Caselli is one of my favorite artists, by the way, if anyone is familiar with his work.

Did draw during highschool years, but haven't really been active in last 15 years.
Some of the stuff can be found at Deviant art.

Being critical is good, it's good to know where one can get better.
Drawing a good start, drawing exercises should give good results as well.

There are lot of information on how to draw nowadays, definetely something one should look into.
Exercises like blind contour should be helpful. (Read about it while back, havent tried it yet..)

When drawing humans or animals knowledge of anatomy is good, it's surprising how different human actually is to what we sometimes remember.

also found this helpful twitter account on manga drawing etc.

    Check youtube for tutorials etc.

This is very true. I used to draw heads a lot smaller and the hands and feet bigger when I was younger but now I stick to the general rule of 6-7 heads stacked from top to bottom and overall trying to better control where my lines meet up.

One new drawing for the month of November. A slight revision of John, Alice and Marcus to better define their facial details as well as their weapons:

So have you actually started to write the story or are these just concept art for a story you would like to write?

Is it something you plan to eventually get round to though?

I've actually written a story myself but never got round to finishing it, still got a hard copy of the first 15 pages!

I remember I once spent weeks and weeks building out my own sci-fi universe. But when it came time to actually write the story I realized I was a $#@!ty writer and immediately quit. haha

    Yeah, eventually.

Does your story happen to revolve around racing?

    Actually funnily enough it does

I had many people read it and ask why I never completed it (and not just family members) but my attention span just isn't long enough to write a whole book

I was thinking the story would start with the three protagonists in a virtual reality arcade. They're having a good time when, all of a sudden, the Prince of Darkness and his army of demons invade New York City. I'm also thinking it will take a little while for them to gain the holy warrior powers that grant them their powerful swords and super-human reflexes.
