Sony Interactive Entertainment, The New Home For All Things PlayStation

Hey guys... girls... and everyone else wishing to remain anonymous. Found an article about some new things going on with Sony that I think you all might find interesting. Have a read and comment below.

Sony announced that two of its main corporate divisions will merge in order to offer clients a better, integrated service.

PlayStation users will get their hardware, software and services from the new entity named Sony Interactive Entertainment. It contains the former Sony Computer Entertainment (the division in charge of the hardware and software components of PlayStation) and Sony Network Entertainment (services such as the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Vue).
The rest of the article is in the link below.

Personally, I think it's an excellent idea considering how well the PlayStation brand has been doing. It seems fitting that they would consolidate and capitalize on the PS4's success and make moves to bolster that health to bring PlayStation as a whole to new heights.

Is this an announcement or speculation? Something about that article does not sound right.

This only makes sense. No reason to have all these brands that fall under PS under different divisions. Any reason why this might be a negative?

It could mean that Sony is restructuring before they try to sell off (or kill off) some of their other assets that aren't making them any money. So, there's a chance that it could mean bad news for the corporation as a whole--but nothing that would affect Playstation that much. It's more likely that it's just a paper-pushing reshuffling type of move, though. Just to streamline the division, maybe cut some costs in the process.

Hopefully it means Sony will unify the PSN store and services such as VUE and PS NOW can be easily brought to other regions with the same content.

Would be nice if they unified some of the prices in Europe with the US PSN store as well; can't see that one happening though!

I agree with Dr.D, this is likely a bit of an internal reshuffle and paperwork exercise; difference to us smegs on the outside? Nil

Suppose it makes sense in order to trim some of the fat, lets just hope it provides us with a little better PSN service!

We can't even get decent Plus titles. I think asking for better PSN is wishful thinking. Lol

Its good thing not bad. All those divisions are working for the PS brand and its services. There is no need to have so many divisions working alone or separating. By combining them all into one place is a lot better.

I think they mean just user interface, which I agree, I like the old PSN way more. Tho some better PS+ titles would be nice too. Like, actual full games. I wanna see Until Dawn on the PSN store. HAHA, IN MY DREAMS!
