To Moderaters: I know this has been posted before but the other topics about faceplates are fairly old.
Think of them as a waste of money or a pretty nifty idea.![]()
In my opinion I go with the latter. Faceplates are a great idea because they would give my 360 console a personal feel and make it more unique. Especially if your faceplate is custom made! It would make my console stand out than a clone on the assembly line. But I say forget this if it costs too much! And to a few of you naysayers, I know some (not all) are ps3 fantatics and jealous because PS3 does not have the same benefit. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Does anybody have any idea how much a faceplate would be?
Cheers
Slythe

Re: What do you think of faceplates?
At first, I thought, "Hell yes, that is a great idea" but then I saw them. No offense to the faceplates, but having JUST the front of the console changed seems stupid to me. The whole rest of the Xbox 360 is still white, and unless you set it up in a way that you can ONLY see the faceplate, it will always look stupid to me. I would have probably loved the idea if you could change the entire case around, with a new cover, but just a faceplate isn't enough to make it look cool, IMO.
[edit] Though, if I had the limited edition E3 2k5 I would probably use it, cause that was mostly white with a little design... and well, it looked pretty cool, but otherwise, it is as I said above.

Isn't faceplates more of a gimmick that gets more people to get Xbox 360 instead of PS3? PS3 doesn't have faceplates you know.

As everyone can blatantly tell my gamer handle is Roach., and I plan on having my faceplate customly painted as if hundreds of roach's are walking on the front of it. Some other things I'll think of later that I want on it, but thats the main premise for now. I personally think its cool because I like making my hardware look tight... you should see my computer. It is a gimmick but a lot of dumb people will buy it because they think its "cool" and others like me will do it because they think its cool and have money to piss away.

I'm with unr3stricted here. What's the point of a faceplate if most of the console is the same? Moreover, I really don't see who you'll be showing off the faceplate to. The x360 ain't no Ipod, there won't be any point in showing off some flashy device if the maker/product isn't "cool." It'll be a neat gimmick but otherwise it's pointless. Just make them in multiple colors and I'll be happy.

It's a great idea in the sense that they are always open to giving out free limited edition face plates with the purchase of a collector's edition or pre-order and they could have the faceplate be of that particular game plus that would be unique to the 360 since no other console could do that.

Re: What do you think of faceplates?
Hold the banana! The front is customizable!? Only that!? I thought it would be the entire case. Well my opinion just pulled a 180 then. I guess I should have paid more attention to that word: faceplate.

Well you could always just get the box painted itself to match the faceplate.
Some of the custom ones that i have seen people make look amazing.
my opinion: get a custom xbox 360 fully painted with faceplate

Yep, even though I may be a big xbox fan, I can't deny some of the faults that microsoft gave it. That, is just a stupid thing to do. Some still look good, but most look stupid.

Some plates could've been concieved by a child with a crayon.
Faceplates are pretty neat if you could buy a faceplate kit for $20, that includes 2 faceplates, paints compatible with its plastic, pencils compatible with the plastic, and designs. Or create your own decals without sacraficing the systems value...

I understand when girl puts on makeup to make herself pretty, but when someone uses 'makeup' on his car/pc/console..
I find it disturbing in so many, many ways..

Live on both v1 and v2.
Good job Justin. Try to avoid using the same word more than once, such as 'essentially'.
Other than that it was well written!
