    GPU Help

I just brought a new GPU (ATI x800 XL) for my pc. But my computer has been running slow since i installed it on my computer. Also when I even play battlefield 2 the graphics look pretty bad. Does anyone have any suggestions on maybe how to fix it.

Are you sure you have the latest drivers? What is your CPU? What is your RAM?

I find making a new windows account specifically for games can speed them up too (as well as any other CPU intensive applications like video encoding)

Sony Vaio Desktop running a Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.8GHz, 512 Rams. Its not that just the games are running slower but the computer as a whole is. But not as bad as the games.

It's probably either a faulty graphics chip (least likely), or you just need to upgrade drivers. Your CPU is faster than mine and I don't have problems, I run a 9600 right now. What power is your power supply? High-end radeon's can take up quite a bit

His pc isn't running slower his display is because of the faulty installed driver (tough it can slow down your cpu if the gpu isn't doing anything at all or not alot)

Go dll the newest driver fromt he ATI website and install that if the problem is not solved I think you should a look at your psu as ishould says.

Sounds like a driver problem, I always find it horrible to switch hardware with windows, I find it causes alot of problems so I normally just reformatt with new hardware.

Another thing is that if youre playing Battlefield 2, you need at least 1GB RAM to run it smoothly. I've also been hearing that you need 2GB to get good performance out of it.

Now that is #%&# dumb. They really expect us to have that much ram. Man im like 1.5 gigs of ram behaind. They actually expect us to waste that much money just on one game. Man I'll try to upgrade it to one gig and if that dont help, hell is going to break on this world. Ill never buy another EA game ever again.

It has 512 MB for the system requirements, but 1GB for the Recommended requirements

Go here to test out your system http://gameadvisor.futuremark.com/ga.../my_system.jsp

(NOTE: You need to be using Internet Explorer)

Hmmm. I honestly don't know what your problem is. If it was only on Battlefield 2, then I would say it's the RAM, but you say that everything is running slow right?

You might want to try returning your GPU and exchanging it for a new one, cause there might be something wrong with that.

Im not talkin really slow am just saying it kind of runs I think slower then I remembered. For example it now take some times time for the internet window to pop up. Before I thought it ran alittle bite smoother.

Well if it's just things like that, you might need to defragment your drive.

I played around with the game graphics and found way to cheat the system by making certain things run at high quality and some low quality. To tell you the truth it worked. Ill use these options for a while till i upgrade my rams.

[LIVE]Price is key for PlayStation 3 success, says SEGA

Masanao Maeda, Sega Corp. corporate director at SEGA Sammy has said he believes price will play a key factor in stimulating consumer interest in Sony’s PlayStation 3 console, suggesting that the company may need to lower the price of the system by 2008.
