a few facts that i got from someone important.

I was told by someone that went to a conference for sony, that 1 the ps3's blu-ray drive is very ****ty(it froze alot on the movie they showed). 2 that sony is charging for people to paly there kisoks (you have to buy sony points and swipe your cards). 3. you have to buy ps3 spefic hdmi cables to get hdmi.

are any of these true and if not can u show proof?

I would have to believe that the blueray drive in the PS3 has to lack something compared to the standalone player sony makes for 1k ....

yeah I heard that too. I also heard that they are going to charge for online play. they totally lied about that. I also heard that they plan on makeing a whole bunch of money by selling everyone a non working unit at launch. Because that is what a company does is try and screw the little guy. Power to the people! Dont let the man keep you down!

I heard that there are going to be 2 million PS3's released on the 17th, but only 400,000 of them will actually have blue laser diodes in them. Those who don't get the diodes can then be put on a waiting list and Sony will ship them directly to you with instructions on how to install it yourself. This comes from a very reliable source.

lol then they say to play blu ray we need to send you the diodes but because you opened your PS3 to install it, you need to buy an extended warranty from us to get covered if anything does go wrong.

Haven't heard anything about the first one. But
2 that sony is charging for people to paly there kisoks (you have to buy sony points and swipe your cards).
Not true, just left a Best Buy after picking up the new socom and ps3 was being played and no charge at all. If they were to charge, that could get pretty sticky as to how it would work, not to forget make alot of people mad.
    As far as
    3. you have to buy ps3 spefic hdmi cables to get hdmi.
Don't know where your friend got that one from but wow, that is out there. That would be the same as saying if you had a dell computer, you had to use dell dvi or vga cables to get a display to your monitor. The point of HDMI, usb, dvi, vga, component and so-on, is a standardization which keeps the confusion down for consumers. Also, it allows the mixing of different components so you don't have to buy all sony or all microsoft or phillips or samsung components to make them work.

Your source is very unreliable (if you even have one) and you have absolutely no proof for that claim you just made. This thread doesn't need to be open.
