Here in the US its the SATs. If, like PS3 said, you plan to go into medical, you have to pass the PCAT for pharmacy (30 secs for super hard questions!) and the MCAT (45 secs, a little better). Hehehe, PS3, even with that perfect average of yours, you might get around a 60 or 70% (this IS percent tile by the way). Infact, i know stories of people that have 4.0GPA and get 27% on the PCAT! But almost everyone aces the MCAT...
Anyway, hope you get good results on those tests! Isnt GU also getting result? Gluck!

At year 9 [age of 14] students do SATs.
At year 10 [age of 15] they start GCSE (I think it stands for General Cirtificate of Secondary Education) and they do the GCSE exams in year 11 [age 16].
And thats the last of the compalsary education....students can choose to do further education in which they are planning to go to University...or they can start a career and get a job.
If you are doing A-level (consists of 2 years) further education....you will choose any 3 or 4 subjects (4 for those who are capibale)....and study intensively for one year and do half the A-level and the end of the first year....these exams are called AS.....At the begining of the second year you will be asked to apply to unversity according to the grades you obtained in AS....during the second year students will study the same 3 or 4 subjects but different modules of the subject....and they will do the second half of those exams at the end of the second year..these are called A2.
AS=first half of A-Level
A2=second Half of A-level
In three days time i will get my AS results.
Hope that gave you a brief insight of what is studied here in the UK.
Thanks...i hope you get good results as well.

Thanks Gaming Ultima. And don't worry everyone does much better than they think on GCSE exams. They mark the mock exams tonnes harder than they do the real ones. I'm sure you've done fine.
As for AS Exams....Ahhhh PANIC!

Why do you thing the grade boundaries are not high, coz the exams themsleves are at einstein's level.
People have a harder time at A-level (that's if they make it to do A-level) than they do at University.
I'll have you know 80% of the people taking the maths course (in my school) got U .
shocking isn't it? and those people aren't you ordinary tom dick and harry, these people are people that are very bright and intelligent. these people got almost staright A's in GCSE (at 16 years old).
Just ask someone else who has done, or is doing A-level.
