Jens Uwe Intat believes that from Sony's perspective the launches have been a success, with the console selling out across North Amercia and Japan.
"We think they have obviously just put into the market a fairly small amount of machines and sold them all," said Intat. "And there also seems to be a decent media hype around the arrival of the PS3 so if I put myself into Sony's shoes I would think it went well," he said.
"For the launch of new hardware, you will never be able to have as many [units] out there as people would like. It's better this way around, than having new hardware sitting on shelves," he added.
When asked what EA would like Sony to do differently for the European launch, Intat replied: "We would obviously like to see more units. For sure, they will not have enough, but they can never have enough."
Intat also revealed that as a publisher EA has recently been taking hardware manufacturers' launch estimations with a pinch of salt, expecting final numbers to fall shy of the figures spouted by execs on the run-up to release.http://www.news4gamers.com/industrynews/News-15869.aspxAnd although Sony's market-leading console is not launching in PAL territories before the end of the year, Intat still believes there are plenty of opportunities for publishers' to take advantage of the early launch in 2007.
"We hope the machine is going to arrive in Spring so consumers can start to enjoy it throughout the summer. With the hardware launching in March you build a decent installed base by September, and the you have a lot of word-of-mouth support for that machine when the Christmas season starts. By the end of next year there should be a very substantial installed base," he said.
Good to see EA being positive about PS3...

EA positive about PS3 prospect...Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Polyphonic, Incognito, Studio London, Studio Liverpool, Evolution Studios, Guerilla Games, Digi-Guys, Factor 5, Sony R&D, Media Molecule there why I own a PS3... Thanks guys...
When EA came to my school last month, that was the representive's general tone. EA seems pretty postive about the PS3 overall. In fact, when she was talking to us, she was excited about devloping for all the next-gen consoles equally. Although I don't like the company, I can give them credit for looking at consoles as way to explore new possbilites when new challenges are put in front of them. Atleast ,thats what I got from the lecture.Member # 11 of the balanced gamers group

EA has always supported the PlayStation brand because they make the most money off of it. They have since the PSOne. Sadly EA games are not all that great, they own very few titles that interest me, ones that do are only published by them. But I do see EA trying to change their image and that can turn out good. Perhaps.
Im not an EA person too, the only EA game im going to get is Tiger Woods 2007, but i have the last one allready for the 360 so again might not bother till they do the 2008 one. I might get the Tony Hawks game as my mate is going nuts about it lol :P
Cheers and not going to get any off the others There are people though that will buy eather console just for the EA games so they will be fine
I want all the Square Enex games FF all the way for me and many a happy hour spent playing and alot less of the sore thumb :P
To get a videogamer developer here was shocking and very unexpecting. I made a topic about what they said at the lecture, do a seach for it. It was in the general chat section.
I'm not willing to say EA totaly hates the x360, they just like from a developers point of view, the cell and blu-ray gives them more room to do stuff and the wii because it's differnt, but overall, I sensed they liked them equally.Member # 11 of the balanced gamers group

And they were threatened by Epic's Gears of War so they attacked it. Unoriginal? EA hasn't had an original title since Road Rash on Genesis. Who are they to talk. Sorry for my nagative post but EA pisses me off.
But any news about one company supporting another is good news.
