The reason it is online for Xbox is the same reason alot of games are online for ps2, Microsoft controls the Xbox live servers so.. all Capcom has to do is rake in the money made from the game being online

if it was to have a online mode for the ps2 capcom would have to sort out servers and stuff themselves which costs money

Exactly as GU said, Sony doesnt run the servers for the ps2 online games the game manufacturer runs and updates the server which cost's more money then to just make the mode available and let someone else run it and give you money for it.

* Big news here: I've decided to up the value of a high quality, decent length game preview to $10. This is starting from May - so no back-pay for previous previews, however there are plenty of games left to do. Quick, short ones will only get $5. Look at Jing's FF XIII preview for a benchmark of what we're looking for.
