Any big fans of these games?
Socom 2 is rumored to be releasing 3 new maps coinciding with the korean release of Socom 2. I would have thought it to be out in korea long ago, but appearently i am wrong.
Beta players in korea and japan are reporting a level titled "After Hours" being included in the game. This is the only real concerte evidence that Zipper Interactive is working on ANYTHING.
Also, who is picking up SW:BF, this game looks killer, but i am unsure if the ps2 can handle the huge maps!

Genji 2
Screens:Genji 2
by Greg Bergen
Genre: Action/Adventure
Developer: Game Republic
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Release Date: JP- 12/31/06 US- TBA
(Insert Pictures)
Developed by Game Republic, Genji 2 is the sequel to the beautiful and mystical title Genji: Dawn of the Samurai.
Taking place only 3 years after the events of the first title, gamers once again find themselves in the mystical realm of Feudal Japan. You lead the life of Yoshitsune, leader of the Genji clan. As its chief you swore an oath to destroy your mortal enemies, the Heishi clan. Thus the battles rage on, as you chop down a seemingly endless amount of foes and monsters alike, always making sure to take a brake from the slaughter to enjoy the beautiful environments Genji 2 has to offer.
Genji 2 centers its gameplay on 4 playable characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Yoshitsune and Benkei, who both made appearances in the first game, will return along with two new characters who go by the names of Shizuka, a female fighter and Buson, a warrior who wields a double-bladed sword. From early reports, Genji 2 plays a lot like Onimusha and Dynasty Warriors. The slick combos coupled with the large amounts of enemies compliment the two titles greatly. Yet, Genji 2 also wants to incorporate the off-screen allies you aren’t using into your combos. Like “Marvel Vs. Capcom” you will be able to perform a combo then have an off screen ally jump into the battle with you and deal damage.
Currently Genji 2 is shaping up to be a more well-rounded title than Genji: Dawn of the Samurai. Game Republic has listened to the feedback of the gamers and promises the game will be at least double the length of the first Genji. Utilizing the PS3 hardware, Genji will totally revamp the graphics from the original and make the game that much more immersive and believable. There will be difficulty tweaks this time around; allowing a for a much harder challenge. Finally, Genji 2 will utilize the extra space on the Blu-ray disk and will feature both English and Japanese voice tracks.
Though Genji 2 is in its early stages of development, the game is moving steadily and coming along just fine. Game Republic is taking every precaution not to stray too far from its predecessor. This leaves us feeling confident that Genji 2 will deliver on its promises as a beautiful sequel. Look for a US release date sometime in 2007.

Great stuff Greg! A very well written preview.
Appreciate the images as well. I changed the link image because it looked a little stretched.
But other than that, impressive stuff!
