Step1:
Open up the Email section from the Wii home menu, proceed to add an external email, lets say wiilight@hotmail.com to your Wii address book.
Step2:
Send a message from your Wii to the address you just added into your address book.
Step3:
Check the email account that you sent the message to, and reply with anything.
Step4:
Don't read the message.
The Wii light will stay on as long as the message is never read. The only problem we found is that the light will stay on even after the Wii is turned off, so if the Wii affects your sleep patterns due to the glowing light, perhaps unplug the Wii from its power source...

I do this, though mostly to annoy the bf and when I'm stoned and will just stare at it. It pulses with no pattern at all. Its kinda cool.

On a similar note. Can you send picture attachments when you reply to the email sent from the Wii?
On the photo channel it says you can view pictures from the message board, but I have not been able to sucessfully send one replying to the email.
Anybody else have any luck?

I hope the future Wii's have a option to leave it on no matter what, but to go out when the Wii is shut down.

Ask Nintendo themselves
Maybe we should all send Nintendo an e-mail or a pettition or something so that in one of their next updates they will add this feature. I would really like this and I know a lot of other people with wiis that want to have an option to just leave the light on as well.

If your asking this question then you have'nt seen the light is it so cool (the only thing that is coolier about the wii its self is the fact that the wii sucks in the disks) and creeped me out a bit when it came on the first time (being woke up at 3:00 am by a blue light is weird)
Wow I got 2 rep points If you gave me one please tell me for what, I'm curious (but I will not do one of these well you gave me rep so i'm gonna give you some thats not the sprit of rep points)
