    Possible PS3 announcement

According to http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/ Sony have hinted that they will be making a big PlayStation announcement on Wednesday the 21st of September. However no one knows exactly what the announcement will be about. It could be about PSP or even PS3 but it seems unlikely that it will be about the PSX. Read the article here:

I wonder what the news could be?

    Here are my thoughts...

They'll show a picture of the PS3!!! Wait not an announcement, scratch that...
they will tell what it will include, IE 'The PS3 will incorporate an already built in internet connection and a removable HD Bay to put in your SONY HD. The PS3 will also have wireless controls that recharge when the power is left on standby. The PS3 will have a built in DVD Recorder to record all data and CD Recording also.'

    *man I am dreaming...*

i don’t think that it will be anything big todo with the PS3 considering its to UK journalists
its probably something more UK specific, PSX maybe, PSP more likely
    who knows
    PSTwo even lol
maybe Sony are going to become a broadband ISP in the UK!
maybe they just want to kill lots of the journalists
    who knows
only 1 week away now though, cant wait

Only article I see on this so far is this http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news.php?newsId=548

It seems that they are just "slimming" the PS2 down and adding more features. Ticks me off I was really hoping for more information on the PS3
Which ever console releases Shadowrun will recieve my support/money for now on!

I would have posted this on the 'PStwo' thread, but thats locked. so i think this will do, seeing as people are talking about a slimmed down PS2.

    Well here it is:

And this is it's verticle stand:

Oh, and this new version is the same price as the current version and it comes with a built in ethrenet port, as you can see below:

And one more thing, it's not going to be called 'PStwo'.....the name is still PS2 (PlayStation 2)....it's just a newer version.

While the machine won't, as had been expected, be called PStwo, it does offer a similarly dramatic level of size reduction as the PSone did in comparison to the original PlayStation: the internal volume has been reduced by 75%, the weight has been halved and the thickness has been reduced from 7.8cm to 2.8cm. The new PS2 will also come with a built-in ethernet port for online gaming and will retail for around £100 - the same price as the current model.

I have to agree with Blake... it loses a lot of its charm to me slimmed down, but just think of the additional room you can save with that *grins*

all that and still! NO FREAKING 4 PORTS -_- I thought they'd learned...oh and btw if it's possible there could be a real tiny HD in there with like 20 gigs eh? because people who play socom with the maps will be happy about that,

Yeah...umm, its kinda hard to put in 4 ports and a 25GB HD when you shrink the PS2 by 75%. You still dont know how many posts the PS3 will have.

If it does have a HD... they could have used a laptop HD... would suck, but I think there would be enough room for that.

No way, Laptop HD's are more expensive than the usual HD's you get. so that would just boost the price up, which people would not like.

Agreed, I dont picture there being any kind of hardrive for it anyways. It wont be needed as the gamer who is yet to purchase the PS2 will problly get it just to add to they're collection...nothing more.

    PS3- "Lifestyle" Server Features Revealed

Meh, didn't really know what to call the article.

I just realized this article dates back to April 4th. No one covered this I think, but I want to make sure if it's OK or not before I go any further.

    PS3- "Lifestyle" Server Features Revealed
    by Greg Bergen

In a leak from the US version of Playstation Magazine, new details of Sony's Online Storage plan is revealed.

To start off, friends will be able to access whatever files you store on your PS3 from any other PS3, with an internet connection, in the world. This still applies even if your system is off. We assume that you will be able to choose which files are public and which ones are private.
