TBH didn't care for any of the Spidermans. They were ok but nothing more than that in my mind. I guess mainly because it never really was one of my favorite comic book heroes growing up. If I had to rank them though 2 was the best with 3 being the worst.

    The Avengers - 9/10

As someone who finds most superhero movies to be ultimately unimpressive, if not boring entirely, I must say that I think this movie was fucking awesome. I really have no complaints for it. Every character had good screen time and their roles in the movie felt right. The weaker heroes didn't feel useless and the dialogue and interactions were great. There was plenty of savory action and a surprising amou8nt if excellent comedy as well. The movie feels so streamlined and precise but remains simple at the same time. What made me happy was the comicbook throwbacks of power, such as the Hulk attempting to lift Mjolnir or Stark bouncing his laser off of Captain America's shield. Things like that are really cool to see. This movie was fantastic overall, and it really does set the bar for fun/action hero movies. It feels great to walk away from the movie theater and not feel like Hollywood just took a shit on me again; to leave feeling giddy and excited about what you've just witnessed.

No Country For Old Men - 6/10

Originally, I was really, really enjoying this movie. The bad guy was interesting enough, and the two perceivable good guys were likeable. Every scene felt like it was building up to something big and exciting, and I eagerly awaited the ending. Then, sadly, it happened. The movie broke. It snapped in half and spiraled into a great, dark depth from which no light shown. About three-fourths into the movie the plot completely changed (I won't list spoilers) and everything just went downhill. It felt as if through production the director took the script, ripped it up, then had a five-year old write out how everything ended. It was bad. Really bad. Like Mass Effect 3 bad. It left me feeling rather upset since I was really enjoying the movie up until then. Had the quality continued then I would have rated it an easy 8/10 or 9/10 instead, but the weak ending just ruined it for me.

All I'm doing is explaining specifically why I don't like Joss Whedon's writing. I have been exposed to a lot of films though. Watching movies isn't a hobby for me, it's a passion. I would like to get paid to write reviews, but film critics are really just people who know how to write their opinions on films in detail.

I didn't mind the ending as much as most people. There doesn't always need to be an epic showdown or a real climax to a good film, because realistically, not every situation has a climax. Coen brothers films have always had this humble realism to them even when the plot is ridiculous, in a film like THE BIG LEBOWSKI or RAISING ARIZONA.

    The Avengers. 8/10

Hopefully I'll see it again to make a better judgement. I thought it was a good film and it had plenty of action and comedy. It just felt flat, no heart. I didn't feel for the heroes, or even think of them as heroes. Not sure how to put it, but it didn't feel like a super hero movie. I was so hyped for it too, I just wanted more. Not action or comedy, but more reason to care. It was like here are the avengers in a film together, watch them blow stuff up.

Great super hero movie, great action and great humor.
Sadly i was forced to watch it in 3D, i would have probably liked it more if it was in 2D.

Lol, I know. All my friends think I'm crazy. I just got so hyped and heard it was the greatest thing and that it was this generations Star Wars. I don't know exactly what let me down. but there was something missing. The action as great, the comedy was great, and the character interaction was spot on. But there was no danger for the team, no we might not make it, not heartfelt moments that pulled me in. I loved it while watching it, but after seeing it, there wasn't anything besides action scenes or one liners that stuck out as being memorable. Not like Vader killing obi-wan and we see how Luke reacts and how Ben comes back to help him destroy the Death Star seconds before the rebel base is destroyed. I still think it is a good film, but not amazing like everyone else, and definitely not the best super hero movie. But I am going to see it again, because I think there is something wrong with me.

You must not watch a lot of Coen Brothers movies. If you want a real wtf ending, watch A Serious Man.

That's irrelevant and besides the point I'm making. The movie completely flipped backwards near the end, and it had zero resolution. It being intentional doesn't excuse it from being a terrible ending and it never shall for any form of media. There was no resolution. There was no lesson learned. There was no climax. There was no win or loss. It was flat, stupid, and completely underwhelming by every definition of the synonym.

A lot more generous score than what I would have given No Country for Old Men. It's on my list of most disliked movies of all time. Just could not get into it and the ending broke me. Some people love Coen Bros. movies, I am not one of those people.

Realistically, does every problem get resolved? Is there always a climax? Is there a winner or loser to every situation? The answer is no, and that's why the ending didn't bother me, but I can see why it would bother some people.

Yeah me too. I think that so many of the movies that are in 3D just force it into the movies. Like throwing an ace toward the screen, bullets flying towards the screen, etc. that it just feels unnatural. Avatar's 3D didn't seem to force it and honestly why I think it is one of the only ones that worked well.

James Cameron's Avatar is the reason we are seeing so many 3D post-conversion movies today. He fueled the trend when it was on fire already. Now everyone wants to be 3D. I'm starting to get pissed off about it. If you're gonna make your movie 3D, then FILM IT IN 3D FFS! /

Animated films usually have good 3D and that's converted since you obviously can't use 3D cameras.

The last movie I saw in 3D was DESPICABLE ME. I wish I had seen HUGO in 3D, but PROMETHEUS will get me back into the trend.

Meh... not much of a supporter of 3D anymore. Use to enjoy it, now its mainly just more money. I'll give Prometheus a shot but we'll see...

This is from an article on Nolan. He's talking about TDKR, but his opinion on 3D is spot on IMO.

Warner Bros. would have been very happy, but I said to the guys there that I wanted it to be stylistically consistent with the first two films and we were really going to push the IMAX thing to create a very high-quality image. I find stereoscopic imaging too small scale and intimate in its effect. 3-D is a misnomer. Films are 3-D. The whole point of photography is that it’s three-dimensional. The thing with stereoscopic imaging is it gives each audience member an individual perspective. It’s well suited to video games and other immersive technologies, but if you're looking for an audience experience, stereoscopic is hard to embrace. I prefer the big canvas, looking up at an enormous screen and at an image that feels larger than life. When you treat that stereoscopically, and we've tried a lot of tests, you shrink the size so the image becomes a much smaller window in front of you. So the effect of it, and the relationship of the image to the audience, has to be very carefully considered. And I feel that in the initial wave to embrace it, that wasn’t considered in the slightest.

The best thing ive ever seen was this like Sea life movie show thing that I saw when i was like 9. It was in this humongous looking dome movie theatre thing and the screen extended almost from the floor to the top of the ceiling and even wrapped around a bit. And when a whale came at you or a huge wave it was awesome. I dont know what it is called but thats what I want, not this gimmicky 3-D stuff.
