Hard Target: 7.5/10

Wow, this just made the top list of my favorite JCVD movie, and John Woo directing certainly helped. I'm rating this as an action movie. The acting doesn't count. It's got kick-ass action, cinematography and the song at the end credits by Creedence Clearwater Revival. This is totally getting me hyped for Expendables 2. I was really hoping Lance Herkinson would steal the show, and he kinda does until he goes ape shit near the end which was full of LOLS. But nonetheless, it's an awesome action movie from the 90's. Not the best, but worth the 90 minutes. Now I wanna see Hard Boiled. A lot of people say that's Woo's best movie and it inspired the Matrix lobby scene and Max Payne!

I just saw The Illusionist. i wonder if all the illusions that he did were really possible... I loved the ending 9.8/10

T2 was one of the last movies where Cameron and the films themselves let the story drive the technology. Not to mention it broke ground visually. But back to the story, it was something new and interesting.

Anyone who doesn't see a difference between T2 and either of the sequels... I don't understand you. It started the trend of machines taking over the world and/or through our creation. The Matrix? ...Came from T1 and 2.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines are just rehashes of the first film, and they're both equally as stupid yet entertaining. I never saw the second film as a particularly deep film. I don't understand why people do.

I dont mean to stir things up to much, but while i thought T3 was total crap and I dont ever care to watch it again, i did really like Terminator: Salvation. I like exploring new worlds and settings like that. It seemed to be very plot driven with cool action (the moto-terminators were awesome).

The Perfect Host 7.5/10- This was a bit of a weird movie. But it wasn't that bad. It had David Hyde Pierce in it, which I've never really seen, who was really good in this. Kind of a goofy story but entertaining to say the least.

Saw it with mother and sister. I joined since I wanted to see Whitney's last performance and she did very well. Jordin was great, too (musically and certainly visually). Not much to write home about but I thought it was a bit better than the usual cut-and-dry rags to riches popcorn movies about aspiring singers.

The Expendables 2: 8/10

Yes, that's right, 8 out of 10. You got a problem with it? Call my buddy, Arnie. Relax, I'm rating it as an action movie.

The Expendables 2 is everything I wanted the first movie to be. I re-visited the first one yesterday and I will admit my first review of it was rather ridiculous and too high on the pedestal. It was rather all over the place and it didn't have the proper balance of each character. They all had a few one-liners and it seemed like it was all about Sly and Statham, but in this second part, it fixes that problem, somewhat. They get rid of Jet Li for the other Chinese agent on the team, and it's part of the story, while also tying up Jet Li's story from the first one. Remember when he said he had a family? Well, it turns out he does.

But if you were worrying about Liam Hemsworth being in the entire movie, he gets killed off relatively fast, but he still has a pretty large role and he doesn't die stupidly. I like how they added the revenge theme into it.

And now Dolph Lundgren gets more screen time and speaking roles, and I didn't expect to root for him, but I really did in this one and generally all the characters. Despite how one-dimensional the team may seem on the outside, there's a certain qaulity about each of them that make them all different and likeable. They grow on you and you don't wanna see any of them die. And thank god they didn't kill them off at the drop of a hat like in some action movies.

Van Damme was awesome, but not excellent. Scott Adkins was pretty cool in the begining too, and I loved the part where he and Statham locked eyes. I knew from that moment when the finale would happen, they would have their own battle, and it didn't disappoint.

This movie is an action-junkie's wet dream, and not only that, it's got heart and dynamic comic relief from all the crew. Even Chuck Norris for the time he's on screen steals the show and uses his Internet success to make such an awesome pun that had the audience going crazy, including myself.

But I was waiting for Arnie, and they gave him a better role this time. He didn't add much in terms of character, but he brought out the inner child in all of us. There's a line he says near the end where it feels so ironic. Bruce Willis as Church leaves Sly a present, and it's a new plane. Stallone says "this thing should be in a musuem" and then Arnie fires back so fucking cleverly and says "so should we". Not only that, but Arnie says "yippie kay-yay" and Willis says "I'll be back". It's one epic scene of one-liners and nostalgia. Clearly this is the real "love letter" to the 80's action films. I was smiling the whole time. The audience was into it, and there were maybe 5-6 teenagers in total. The rest were people in their 20's like myself or older. People who grew up on these films. I'm really glad no tweeners showed up, this is not a movie for them. They should stick to Transformers and Twilight. Let the big boys take over and show them how it's done. Perhaps, when they are older and more mature, they will know our great generation.


I should note that this is directed by Simon West who did the cult classic, Con Air. Maybe that's why I loved this a lot more than the first one. See this movie when you get a chance because all your favorite action heroes are in it. Oh and one more thing. The finale between Stallone and Van Damme. Balls to the fuckin wall awesome!

Non-spoiler summary: The Expendables 2 is everything I wanted the first one to be. It has the heart, comic relief and bang-on action of the 80's and 90's into one glorious, 102 minute film. And even though it may not be the perfect action movie, with its mistakes, it still made a memorable summer for me.

So, if you have a dick or tits of steel, go see this!

I would like a slightly stronger plot and less cheesy lines. the lone wolf is just so lame compared to everyone else. but if u want a fun action film, go see it, I just wanted more fun and better action

The Expendables 2 - 7/10

This movie just made for a really good time. Don't expect a gripping action thriller, as this movie doesn't take itself too seriously. It was funnier than the first movie, each of the characters had more of a presence, the story was a bit more focused, and then there's Chuck Norris. It wasn't executed perfectly, but it was a solid improvement.

Watched Inception again. Quite an interesting movie and remarkably simple. It's the most textbook Nolan movie when you think about it; a literal representation of his tendency to create mechanical structures out of his material. Not sure how I feel about that, but I was nonetheless hooked and entertained.

The Heir Apparent: Largo Winch 8.5/10- What a great movie. Caught me off guard for sure. Excellent story, acting, and setting. It's on Netflix instant video if anyone is interested. Definitely worth a watch.

Holy shit! This is one kick-ass movie from start to finish. It's about a police tactical team of 20 elite cops who must take down this drug lord who lives in a ghetto apartment building. He owns everyone there, including the civillian residents. And there have been so many attempts to take the building down, but now they think they can finally take it down. And I won't spoil the rest because this movie needs to be seen by every action and fighting fan. I mean this movie gives Ong Bak's Tony Jaa a run for his money. If there's one thing the next Mortal Kombat movie or web series should have, it's the guys who fight in this movie. Some insane fight choreography that will leave your jaw dropped. Don't watch the English dub, avoid it and watch the original with English subtitles. The way it's meant to be seen.

The Dictator 10/10-Oh man was this movie hilarious. There are so many great jokes in this movie it is ridiculous. It is right next to Borat in my book. Glad he redeemed himself after Bruno which I will be honest didn't do it for me at all. The whole rant towards the end discussing America's potential to be a dictatorship had me rolling! Excellent movie. One of the funniest I've watched in a while.

The Cabin in the Woods - 7/10

I knew this film was going to be different... but I'm not sure what the hell I just watched. I've never seen a movie go from comedic, to blood spraying everywhere, then absolute bizarreness all in the same scene.

I give them credit for all the creatures, and them going wild all over the complex. Quite a satisfying climax.

See that's the thing that worries me about the remakes. They won't have the same style of action and choreography this badass movie has. It might be too action packed, include more gun fights than fights.
