    Jack reacher - 8/10

Enjoyable movie, a straight forward plot with a little twist that was expected.

While I'm on the fence about HFR, I don't think it gels that well with 3D. Somewhere between CGI, HFR, and 3D, something is usually sticking out.

    Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome: 6.5/10

It was really good in the first act, I loved the way they set up the story, and Tina Turner is a damn fine and sexy villain. However, as soon as it progressed to the 2nd act, it got boring. I understand it's the 80's, and there's lots of adventure movies with kids, but do we really need a kids storyline in a world like Mad Max?

I thought it was slowing things down for me watching. And even by the third act, the last battle started off good but ended crappy. I liked the ending, that was ok I guess. But it doesn't come close to The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2). But I will say this, the production design and musical score really give these movies its own style. This is like a sub-genre of post-apocalyptic film, I love it. I can't wait to see Fury Road, which stars Tom Hardy as Mad Max, and it's directed by George Miller, so you can't go wrong with that.

    Jack Reacher: 8/10

That was a fun movie and it surprised me in many ways because I was expecting it to suck. I love the start of the movie because it reminded me of the airport level in Modern Warfare 2. That was a nice touch, really great cinematography there. I haven't read the books, but it seems people on the IMDB boards say Cruise owned the role and this take on Jack Reacher was actually good for the big screen. Now, I want to read the book.

Premium Rush 6/10 By no means a great movie but the bike scenes were fun to watch. Also a fan of Jason Gordon-Levitt, gotta check out Looper one of these days.

    Life of Pi: 9/10

I haven't seen all of the top-rated movies, but this is my favorite of the year. Aesthetically it is so damn beautiful and the 3D complements it really well. This is the second movie in a row where I've been impressed with the 3D. It's accompanied with a simple, yet well-crafted story as well. This is definitely one of the films that should be seen in the cinemas.

    The Goonies: 7/10

Fun childhood classic, but gets quite annoying with child actors constantly screaming throughout the entire movie. And Sloth isn't really explained too well, other than his mom dropped him twice as a kid, he ended up in the Brooklyn Zoo, but honestly, you can't be that fucking deformed from being dropped twice, unless you were a genetic mutation in a lab that went horribly wrong...or from Chernobyl.

Also, you could sometimes see Andy's panties. I bet the Donner liked that.

You are only allowed to rate The Goonies if you saw it before you were 12 years old. Older people just dont get it and their reviews are invalid.

Hence the first three words in my first sentence. I saw it on the old TBS channel when they were playing it back to back with Hook.

And what would old people not understand about the Goonies? They saw it when it came out. Their reviews are more valid than ours combined.

You need to see it as a child to fully understand its awesomeness. A older person would see it and say hey its just a movie but its more than that and they dont understand why that is. It can not be put into words so i can not explain to you more than what i already have.

In what world would an adult view a movie the same as a child would? There are movies that I absolutely adored as a child that if I were to watch now... I would be very meh. The nostalgia is what keeps me enjoying such movies.

Surely you can understand that the perspective of children changes as they get older? The entire world is different at a young age. You're confusing seeing a movie when it came out with seeing the movie when you're a child. His point is still valid. It doesn't matter if you see a movie when it came out or 3 decades later... it's still not the same as viewing it as a child.

Also... THE GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - 8/10

After my first viewing I would have given this film a 7/10. I saw it in HFR IMAX 3D originally, and I think perhaps the visual immersion was too distracting. I was focusing too much on the look of the film rather than the film itself.

Anyway, after viewing this again in regular 2D/24 FPS, I enjoyed the film quite a bit more, especially the beginning section in the Shire. Overall, this is a very fun experience with good characters, ample humor, and breathtaking set-pieces. However, there's a few unnecessary scenes that should have been cut, and since this is only one third of the book, there's a need for a bit more plot progression.

By comparison, this is what I would give the LOTR films...

Fellowship of the Ring - 10/10

    The Two Towers - 9/10

The Return of the King - 10/10

I re-watched all the LOTR movies in the last 3 days. Such an amazing trilogy.

Watched Cloud Atlas last night and I still don't completely understand that film. Have to watch it again bu my first score would be 8/10
