    Evil Dead (the original) 5.5/10

Yeah, sorry Raimi fans, but I really didn't like this. I'll accept the $#@!ty make up and gore effects for its time, and some of the gore was pretty $#@!ed up for its time, but otherwise, it's a horrible movie. I don't care if it has cult status attached to it, I just didn't enjoy it one bit. Ash is the only redeemable character in the entire film. Otherwise, it looks stupid. I realize this is Sam Raimi's style, except I don't like it. The mirror scene was really cool though. You could see how that translated to Spider-Man. It was a nice nod to this movie, not to mention the Bruce Campbell cameos.

    Evil Dead 2: 6.5/10

Now this is a little better in all departments. I don't like the intro though. It's like a, "previously on Evil Dead" like a TV show intro. It wasn't necessary, nor was it accurate. That sequence could have been much shorter. Anyway, the make up and effects were much better in this. The demonic trees and the monsters near the end were pretty nice too. Even the group of character were redeemable and it was nice to see that some of the same sets from the first film were kept in tact or as close as possible to the original. Like the broken bridge as a perfect example. Speaking of which, that looks remarkably a lot like a hand about to clench. And Bruce Campbell finally evolves into the cult figure he is today. He's more of a badass hero by the end of this. The chainsaw and shotgun being the signature weapons of choice. Overall, I wouldn't watch it again though. It still didn't charm me. And it's a shame, because so many people regard Sam Raimi and the Evil Dead series as godly masterpieces of horror because of the humor. It didn't really shine for me until Army of Darkness. Now that movie, I really liked. That actually made me laugh.

And I prefer the remake to these. Sorry, but that's just the cold truth. It's much better. I love the drug addiction spin to the remake, as well as the blood rain. Nice touch of originality in cinematic horror.

    Spring Breakers: 6/10

I basically just watched a very artsy, softcore porno about being a hard core gangster because you want to change yourself on spring break, by robbing a fast food restuarant to go to Florida and get in with the wrong crowd and having $#@! go haywire for you. Did I mention that James Franco has cornrows and a set of platinum teeth in his mouth? It's argubly the most intersting role he has ever done in his career and it made me laugh, but in a good way, because I totally buy it.

The way this character was written is so accurate to how groups of white people dressed in my high school days. They didn't have the cornrows, but everything else. The way he talks was the way they talked. Arrogant and full of $#@!. I thank the director for that. The cinematography was a little annoying at times, mainly because the colour correction was all over the place. But it actually works with the Miami setting they were in because a lot of hotels, apartments and various buildings have those pink and teal blue neon lighting setups to attract customers, so that was really cool to the style of this film.

However, that being said, even though it was a nice attempt at arthouse, it got irrelevant and irritating fast. There were far too many voice overs that were repeated throughout and just irrelevant things happening in the plot. I mean, realisitcally, the whole thing is irrelevant. Why should I care about these despicable people doing terrible things to themselves and random strangers who don't deserve it? If the director was trying to make the audience root for these people, then they failed because a few people literally left the theater.

And they're so smart for the way they marketed this film. The trailer was like a call to tweens, college $#@!s, jocks and frat boy college douchebags. This is the type of audience it attracted, and it's amazing how it divides people into two groups. Those who are intelligent and understand the approach, and those who are gullible and left because they weren't getting what they expected in the trailer.

But that's just it, the movie delivered on the trailer so much. In an artsy way, but still, it delivered. There is so much nudity, and close ups of asses. The director has to be a pervert. I mean, if I were alone in the theater, I would masturbate to this movie. It's that sexual. The beauty of it is that it doesn't sugar coat anything. It makes college girls seem like huge $#@!s who think about $#@! all the time and black people seem like rapists. Gucci Mane didn't help at all with the stereotyping. And I needed subtitles when he spoke because I've never heard of such retarded ebonics in my life.

The director for this made movies like Kids and Gummo, which are equally as $#@!ed up as this. Especially near the end. It's worth a watch or a download if you want to save money. But if you wanna see James Franco playing a wigger rapper and nice asses, including Selena Gomez' and Vanessa Hudgens, then watch this. You may even whip it out and start rubbing one out. Harmony Korine, the director, truly captured the essence and style of this spring break culture and turned it upside down into an art house film. The choice is yours.

The most unexpected part was when

IT had me guessing who the insider was.
Wrapped up a little too quickly for my liking seemed a little rushed ending wise but overall an enjoyable movie.

Really enjoyed this movie. The cinematography and visuals are just amazing. The story is pretty good. It is pretty long though. They probably could have cut some of the money to shorten it up. Other than the length this was a good movie.
It's funny that in this day in age people can steal as long as they have a reason too. Even if that reason is created by the thieves themselves.

    Oblivion - 8/10

I was impressed to see how much improvement Kosinski made with this over Tron: Legacy. The visuals and overall designs are beautiful and the production value leaves many sci-fi flicks to shame. Action scenes have precision and weight. The story does seem like it drags a bit, but the climax is still great and the final moments leave the film on a high note. And M83's score is superb.

    Full review

"One of Kosinski’s greatest strengths as a director are his visuals and design. Coming from an architectural background much of his direction can be seen as geometric. From his pans and dolly work, to the angled shots and so on. Furthermore, his production design of environments never fails to impress. It’s a style that works to his own, and he let it thrive in this picture."

    Oblivion: 8.5/10

Oblivion is the 2nd film from director Joseph Kosinski, who also directed Tron: Legacy. It's visually a very beautiful film that is breathtaking in set design and special effects. I love the idea behind the drones and The Tet, who is the main protagonist, which reminds me a lot of HAL from Kubricks, 2001 A Space Odyssey. And there's a clear reference to that in this film, I just realized this now as I am writing.

The sound design is superb. The way the drones sound and look make me terrified. They make me feel like I felt back when I saw Robocop for the first time and you see that jaw dropping mech killing machine. It's sheer awesome for your ears. Also, the soundtrack is entirely composed of M83. I think I see a pattern here. And if you watch this in IMAX, you will experience just how articulate and crisp this sound design is.

The production design combined with the special effects gave this film a distinct look from Tron Legacy, while still maintaining a similar feel to it. There are still the neon fluorescents that made Tron so beautiful in 3D, but it's still original.

I wasn't too crazy about the acting. It certainly wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable either. I think Andrea Riseborough stole the show, and of course, the main protagonist, Melissa Leo, especially at the end.

But with this being said, there are some noticeable plot holes that could have been covered in a longer cut of the film or the opening sequence, but not enough to warrant a poorly written conclusion in a review. But it's pretty amazing, considering that I didn't care too much for this movie when I saw the trailer for the first time. I instantly thought, "oh great, another post-apocalyptic movie and Morgan Freeman looks silly with those shades". But it completely surprised me. The world created within this is more believable than other sci-fi's that involve world ending material. And the shooting locations look stunning to say the least. But I loved the ending. That was satisfying and beautiful.

And despite the fact that it's "specially formatted for IMAX" you should still see it just for the visuals and sound alone. The crane shots across the sky and the aerials, as well as the action sequences in the air make this an unforgettable experience. $#@! the regular screenings, watch it in IMAX.

Oh and I'm definitely buying this on blu-ray on day 1.

Haha... HAL was an after thought for me too. You also notice the Independence Day reference?

Definitely agree with you on the ending.

    EDIT:

    The Evil Dead - 7/10

The lower score was getting use to the really old school and low budget feel. Raimi did not have any stabilizers... almost like he shot this on some camcorder. But his style is good. The end felt like Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark where the people melt. So yeah, it was cool.

    Evil Dead Two - 8/10

Raimi's zany style is awesome. Mixing slapstick humor and raw gore is a rare skill. And of course Bruce Campbell and his boom stick!!! And... the chainsaw

    Iron Man 3 - 8/10

Enjoyed the movie thoroughly, it clearly was better than Iron Man 2, however I can't help but feel that some things could have been done differently. It definitely had the potential to be better than the first movie. Hope to see Robert Downey Jr. back in The Avengers 2/Iron Man 4!

p.s. stick around until after the end credits roll, all you marvel fans should know this by now

    Just for reference:

Movie43 - $#@!in weird, but funny. Like a better produced series of snl skits. Hugh jackman with balls on his neck, halle berrie making guacamole with her tits...i enjoyed it. 8/10
