just finished watching Olympus has fallen. although unrealistic as to much of the unfolding of events of the destruction of the White House still a great action movie. I believed the agent should've gotten more recognition at the end but oh well. 7.5/10

oblivion. bought this on blu ray and I must say my favorite scyfy/futuristic movie of recent date. cruise did a good job, loved the "red" haired woman's accent ( ) and I liked the twists of the plot. this on bluray is a must see. 10/10

It's not specified in the movie but I like the idea that it was an extraterrestrial object (an asteroid or comet) that caused the apocalypse rather than a super volcano. The book apparently mentions "a streak of light" and "low repurcussions".

Anyways, it's a sad movie but I also found myself mesmerized by the bleak cinematography. The ending received some criticism for being unrealistic which I don't necessarily disagree with but still enjoyed.

What the actual $#@! was this piece of $#@!? You have some amazing cast like Robert Downey Jr, Ben Stiller and $#@!ing Frodo Wood and you make a $#@!ty movie with $#@!ty writing, extremely $#@!ty acting, which in turn makes the editing $#@!ty. It's like one aspect of the film, the director, affected nearly every single department of the movie production. There are weird and unnecessary jump cuts, extremely pointless sequences of dialogue and just $#@!ty acting and writing. The only good parts were with Robert Downey Jr. confessing his attraction to Mike Tyson and Ben Stiller's parts. They literally made the movie watchable in those small moments.

And on top of that, this movie just $#@!ing boasts racism against white people. This is supposed to be some crass attempt at making a philosphocial movie about black and white stereotypes and how inter-racial couples blend well with each other. Or how white people are trying to be black lol.

I can't believe I sat through this steaming pile of turd. Wtf is wrong with me. I guess it was only for Iron Man being in it, that's it.

And get this, the budget for this masterpiece was 10 million. Wtf. I guess 99% went to Robert Downey Jr, Ben Stiller and Frodo. Everything else was just collateral. The small actors who never had a career after this were happy with the 1,000 checks they got. You could tell by the acting.

Here is the movie in question.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0165643/?ref_=sr_2

What a waste of celluloid. It actually looks worse than a student film.

I liked the fact that book never mentioned the cause because when your in there surviving, it doesn't matter how it happened. What matters is what you must do to go on. That said its time and time again said that it was a great fire that destroyed everything, hence the ash. I thought that the cause was global warming

Pretty good film starring Mark Wahlberg and Danny Glover, it's your typical vendetta film where a guy turns into a mercenary to get back at the people who framed him for an assassination. I wouldn't really recommend it haha but you're welcome to give it a watch.

If you're into Mark Wahlberg though I would suggest We Own the Night or The Fighter, both great films.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: 8.5/10

For a Western period piece, this was quite long. Clocking in at 2 hours and 58 minutes. That's the Rome Cut by Sergio Leone which wasn't shown in theatres in the US. And considering this movie is in 1966. The guys at MGM did a great job restoring its picture and sound, even if the sound effects are awful, no thanks to the mono track this film was made on. You just can't separate sound effects and dialogue on a mono track because it's only one track. So, MGM tried to make a 5.1 mix and added some sound effects in for certain scenes and moments. The dialogue is completely ADR and for being done in 2002 with all the original actors, it's not too bad. Tuco's is terrible though. Cringe-worthy and out of sync at times. Clint Eastwood's is the best and if I didn't know he re-did the ADR in 2002, I would have guessed it was all done on set. That's a damn young voice for being an old man.

But, on less technical terms, the cinematography and writing are what makes this film shine. You can see a lot of stuff in this that Tarantino drew inspiration from. You know how he's always quoting Sergio Leone in almost every special feature of his movies, this movie is like the brain child of Tarantino. But I loved Clint Eastwood's character the most in this film. He's dubbed, "The Man With No Name" in the trilogy and this movie is the first of that. Despite being called Blondie a lot.

And another thing I noticed is how Clint, at that young age, is the spitting image of Big Boss, aka Naked Snake from Metal Gear Solid. He even smokes a cigar in a lot of scenes and boasts how great it is to have after a meal or a brutal battle. If Clint Eastwood was born much later, let's say, in the 70's or 80's, we would have Metal Gear Solid now or we would have a movie about it, if nothing's changed. Clint Eastwood is the perfect Big Boss for a live action adaptation.

And I will admit, the film could be cut down to maybe two hours and a few minutes, because a lot of the scenes felt long. However, it's the ending that makes me love this film a lot and Clint Eastwood. That was such a great ending. I didn't expect him to save Tuco. And in the fashion he did it in was absolutely flawless. It reminds you and rewards you for staying that long to see the film all the way through.

Give this a watch. One of my highest recommendations. It's a great film and it inspired a lot in pop culture for film and for gaming.

And even 20 minutes into the film, I already knew it was gonna be on my to-buy list when it comes to blu-ray...then..that ending happened. You know, I always defended Oliver Stone for his brilliant film-making, but after this $#@!, I don't care for him anymore. Natural Born Killers was kick ass. Wall Street was kick ass. Even JFK was kick ass. What the $#@! happened?

I hate to be 'that guy', but "A Fistful Of Dollars" was actually the first appearance of Clint Eastwood's Man With No Name character, followed by "For A Few Dollars More". His last appearance was in "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly". Nitpicking, I know, but these are some of my very favorite films and I couldn't help myself.

I watched this last night and I enjoyed it to a certain extent, sometimes it felt jumpy where the scenes would change drastically and it felt like it was skipping parts of the story, although I was quite tired so that doesn't always make it easy to follow things! It was an interesting films though, I always enjoy films that are based in true events.

based on a true story, this film is very dark and edgy. some of the ways he kills people just wouldn't work in real life, but it's entertaining nonetheless. doesn't have a "star studded" cast; however, it wouldn't have been any better if it did. the actors do a supreme job playing their roles as well as diving deep into character immersion. a good movie to rent.
